Good result for Nine – up 3 points from last Tuesday while Seven drops 3. Nine won along the east coast with Seven winning Adelaide and Perth (as usual).

Nine’s win was largely due to the ACA special Cam and Jules Wedding easily beating Zumbo on Seven that dropped even lower than the first 2 nights of this season. 10’s Amazing Race was down from the previous week but won the demos. Nine’s repeat movie beat Seven’s premiere.

It was another big morning for Sunrise. 7Mate topped the multichannels thanks to Fat Pizza.

Very average figures for the amazing race.

Looks like the ACA special on Cam and Jules’ wedding took some viewers away from The Amazing Race.
Seven’s premiere movie Dunkirk deserved more viewers. It needed to be promoted more often in the past seven days because it is a great film and was a box office hit.
Fat Pizza is doing great business for 7mate.

You’d have to think that Seven might consider putting Fat Pizza on the main channel? Zumbo isn’t doing much better.

Yeah it’s back to where it started, which isn’t great considering it has significantly weaker competition than it did a couple of weeks ago. Obviously still topping demos but that’s because it has practically no competition. Ten would be wanting more.

Seven will have live BBL from mid December so there is not much time left for an encore.

Not all great news though. Current Affair/Married at First Sight averaged 617,000. Last Tuesday’s ACA had 746,000.

I bet they were expecting a massive MAFS bump in the ratings but it certainly did not help them and trashed their brand further.

It easily won its timeslot. It also improved on RBT and Paramedics in previous days. I think 9 will be satisfied with those ratings.

Not sure how it damages their brand when I think 9 want the experiment to be seen as something that can be successful and there’s no better example (so far) than Jules and Cam

10 winning the demos. Again.

Fat Pizza: Back In Business would probably be better left on 7mate, because I highly doubt that show’s rather coarse humour would go down particularly well with much of the target audience for Seven’s main channel!

Either way, surely it’s only a matter of time before Zumbo’s Just Desserts gets bumped to daytime or 7Food Network? Receiving less viewers than not only The Amazing Race and The Chase at 5.30pm, but also Love On The Spectrum (which IMO, deserved even higher ratings than it got) and Dream Gardens would surely be unacceptable to Seven?

Although sadly, last night’s ratings for the ACA special probably still prove that more viewers would prefer to watch manufactured dating/relationship “reality” programming rather than content that’s even vaguely based on actual dating/relationship reality.

What does manufactured dating/relationship “reality” programming have to do with current affairs?

Ten’s focus would be on the demos which it was first in rather than total viewers. I think it’s time we gave less importance to the same day ratings considering less and less people are watching TV live.

But it wasn’t impressively first. I am not talking about it being average total viewers. I think that those demos are pretty average as well. Only 150 in the 16-39 demo and 250k in the 18-49 demo against very little is average.

Exactly. It wasn’t hard to top demos last night and the viewers in those demo’s were low too.

Yes I agree that other factors are important too, but you are talking like The Amazing Race is getting big playback numbers. It isn’t getting huge numbers on VMR either to boost it. I’m not sure about the last few eps but I know in the first couple weeks most episodes were only getting about an additional 80k.

Just because a show is doing well on a multichannel doesn’t necessarily mean it should move to/air on the main channel. Fat Pizza is a ‘perfect’ show for 7mate whereas it probably doesn’t ‘fit’ being on 7 - it’s the same reason why even though Love Island is doing really well in the UK, it still airs on ITV2 instead of the main ITV channel

ACA covers all kinds of topics, mostly current affairs, sometimes not. It is not uncommon for them to do something like Australian Story where they focus on a particular person. Obviously, ACA saw Jules and Cam’s wedding as something that would be interesting enough to dedicate a 90 minute episode.

Well, tell them to change the title of the show to A Mostly Current Affair, Sometimes Not. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s doing similar to Survivor was when it first launched (Survivor averaged 690k for its first 8 episodes compared to 578k for Amazing race) and that’s on a way smaller budget considering the prize money is half of Survivor’s and they have only given out 4,000 dollars so far in prizes.

You can’t just go on about 10 caring about demos and then go complete opposite in your next post. As you said above 10 care about the demos. Survivor, against much tougher competition, managed on average in September on Mondays 365k in the 18-49 demographic. On Tuesdays in September it averaged 372k in that same demographic. In total people it was getting around 600-700k on Mondays and Tuesdays. That amazing Race figure for last night was over 100k less than the average for Survivor’s first season. In comparison Nine had The Block and Married at First Sight on and 7 had Zumbo which was getting around 700k (Tuesday 20th September). Survivor was doing much better in its first season against much better competition. Also not once did it go under 600k on a Monday or Tuesday in its first season.

I am not saying 10 shouldn’t stick with it but the figure for Tuesday the 19th is average. 10 have to fix some of the issues with the show and perhaps have a good schedule around it. I am baffled why it was paired with One Born Every Minute. 10’s schedule is all over the place. Dancing With the Stars paired with Survivor, Survivor with Bachelor etc. They need to sort that out.

Not really doing similar. That’s about 17% less total audience for The Amazing Race than Survivor had. Plus like @turdall mentioned Survivor was always up against much bigger competition and still held up better than the race. TAR has practically zero competition at the moment.
