A post 7.30pm schedule devoted to ABBA saw Nine’s main channel number one for Tuesday, but Seven’s three multichannels outrated Nine’s four to see Seven win on network shares. Seven’s won the Sydney, Adelaide and Perth markets while Nine was number one in Adelaide and Brisbane. It was 10, however, that topped the key advertising groups with Nine second.

MasterChef with just short of one million viewers, The Project at 7pm and How To Stay Married were keys to 10’s demographic success, all timeslot winners in the key demo groups.

Nine’s ABBA retrospective and Seven’s Border Security were neck and neck at 7.30pm. They faced tough competition from the season premiere of Who Do You Think You Are? on SBS that was up on the 2019 season opener. Meanwhile ABC’s premiere Miriam Margolyes Almost Australian later did well with 573,000.

Missing the top 20 were Seven’s The Force Behind The Line in 24th place and Nine’s movie Mama Mia Here We Go Again in 24th place.

Seven’s Absentia premiere episode did poorly and was 4th in its timeslot in 25th place over all with episode two 27th.

The ABBA double saw Nine’s primary share jumping by 2.6% from last week. The retrospective special and the movie Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again rated better than Hamish and Andy’s Perfect Holiday and repeat movies in the past three weeks.

Lisa Wilkinson did a lot of promotions for her appearance of Who Do You Think You Are? over the past week, so for that episode to get only 417,000 will be a bit disappointing.

Poor timeslot for a FTA premiere, its predecessor was the No. 1 movie on Saturday night and made the Top 10 with over 300k metro.

Doesn’t sound positive for Bodyguard tonight.

Masterchef bit higher now from the loss of Lego Masters. 7NEWS bulletins for all eastern states behind 9NEWS, including Bris. There was a bigger loss for 7NEWS in Sydney than Melbourne.

In other words, it was absentia from the Top 20.

Only 417,000? That’s huge for SBS and bigger than last year. Border Security 475,000 and ABBA 476,000 were not that far ahead.

Slightly down on last week when it was also not up against Lego Masters .

In Adelaide?

In Adelaide, Hot Seat is at 4pm where it had more viewers than Seven’s Afternoon News.

Very surprising to me
I forgot to mention that Nine News Adelaide has actually been doing quite well recently, making itself a competitor for Seven.

Wow that is surprising. Seems that the shift of timeslots has been paying off?

How does Nine News at Five fair against The Chase and 10 News First?

Looks like an aberration. It’s just one day out of 365. The day before Seven won easily with almost double the audience. Similarly the previous Tuesday Seven had almost double the audience.
