Maybe it’s got to do with Easter Monday as public holiday. I know the fact that’s easter period is where not a lot of people are watching tv during prime time. I guess that’s once dancing with the stars finish, I guess that’s Masterchef will return somewhere on 29 April.

#42

Wouldn’t be a bad thing. Don’t get how anyone watches the crap.

#43

Won’t Bachelor in Paradise fill the gap between the end of DWTS and the start of Masterchef?

It would be a bad thing for Australian drama. We don’t need more news/a current affair shows on TV or more reality. If Seven consider moving Home and Away I don’t think it should be onto a multichannel as it will be lost. Maybe an earlier slot (like 5pm) or later slot (like 10.30pm) on the main channel for new epsiodes and a repeat at 7pm on a multichannel the following day. Or vice versa.

#44

Given it’s been a Seven staple for so long, I’ve a feeling that H&A will get one last chance to reinvent itself and drag some audience back in. Unfortunately for seven though, that takes months to bare fruit on screen and seven really could use a quick fix now to try and get MKR’s figures trending up again.

#45

No I think Bachelor in Paradise will air alongside Dancing. Probably starting in about 5 weeks.

#46

Wonder how far away Bachelor is from being ready… would assume the bulk of it is already filmed and in the can, if so 10 should start heavily promoting it and get it to air asap.

#47

They are starting Bondi Rescue tonight and Ambulance Australia next week. They can’t keep yanking shows off the air unfinished.

I doubt they’d want to put Bachelor in Paradise up against MAFS anyway. They target the same people. It would do better away from that show.

#48

Yeah. They would definitely be using Bach in Paradise to fill the gap before Masterchef once DWTS and these other shows finish up. There’s no way it’s starting in the next few weeks.

#49

This was discussed on Fitzy and Wippa yesterday. They talked about photos on Instagram which reveal Dino and Jessika in an ad together in 2017 and Dino and Bronson with their shirts off hanging out at a pool from 2009. It was suggested they must all have the same casting agency.

#50

10 have generally held off MasterChef until MKR has finished its run, but given the combination of weakness in MKR and multiple misfires in their own 7:30pm shows, perhaps 10 should take another risk and bring MasterChef forward.

#51

I think Seven (and to some extent Ten) will be able to bounce back once MAFS has ended. I don’t see any of Nine’s upcoming shows going to be as hugely successful as MAFS - time will tell.

#52

I think it will be a long year for 7. I think the AFL will help them win weeks but their entertainment brand and strategy is all wrong. Firstly, I think they should be launching House Rules at the beginning of the year, followed by a dating show in May and MKR at the end of the year. May is the perfect time for a romance show and is something that is missing at that time of the years from one of the big 3.

#53

I think you’re right. The Block does well but Ninja Warrior is on a downward trajectory like the Voice. LEGO Masters is niche & only a short run anyway. Bad Mothers may rate, despite being awful. Who knows how their drama revivals will fare? Probably OK, but I can’t see them being huge.

#54

They should probably slot something like Wife Swap in that time.

#55

Seven has the Proposal about to go into production. It’s their version of MAFS. Will it go the way of Australian Spartan? Or will it rate through the roof?

#56

If they make it super trashy, I’m sure it will rate!
But I thought that Seven Year Switch had the potential to be like MAFS.

#57

I think Bride and Prejudice did too. I just don’t think 7 thought it would do as well as it did.

#58

I think DWTS will also air on Easter Monday as many people return from holidays and programs usually get a one-off ratings spike. MasterChef could start on April 29 but that will depend on when My Kitchen Rules has its grand final on.

#59

The Proposal is probably more like the Bachelor, but speedy.
