#2

Seven’s line-up fell into a heap with early finish to the cricket (big audience for the daytime coverage of the second test though, as Australia beat India by 146 runs).
Nine won the night thanks to repeats of TBBT and London Has Fallen.

#3

Why isn’t the daytime audience leadership spilling over into primetime? Is it the quality of the shows?

#4

The quality of the shows is one reason. The other reason was that the early finish to the cricket meant many viewers were not able to find out what would be on last night as some EPG showed the incorrect line-up. Even Adelaide’s Carols by Candlelight was moved forward to 7pm in a last minute decision.

#5

Comprehensive win for Nine, winning all markets.

Adelaide Carols ranked 13th (equal with Ambulance UK).

ABC ranked 21st and 22nd.

Today dropped below the 200,000 point again - second lowest number for year.

Today
#6

Karl isn’t even there. What are people avoiding?

#7

I might be blind but i can’t see carols in the list.

#8

It ranked 13th in Adelaide. Not shown elsewhere.

#9

i.e. ~79th overall…

#10

The summer line-up isn’t so dandy, is it? The whole show isn’t doing well and getting a new host to front a turd isn’t going to do wonders and get viewers to stick around.

What is worse is, in my opinion, Sunrise has had its best year in years.

#11

Dislike for Karl probably isn’t the only reason why people prefer Sunrise. Maybe Sunrise has more engaging presenters, viewers like more. Maybe the segments are more informative and entertaining. Maybe it looks and feels more inviting. Don’t forget the strength of the Sunrise brand and collegiality of the on-air team in looking at those results.

#12

And the cow character is more kid-friendly than a block of notes, I assume.

#13

You just want the Casharoo back, don’t you?

#14

Jokes aside, the cash giveaways do attract viewers. The cow can get out amongst people and Today is limited by the fact it is broadcast inside a studio that doesn’t allow ready access to street views or people on the streets.

#15

I’d be more impressed if Sunrise spent a fraction of that money to do a free breakfast one morning a week for the homeless who gather across from their Phillip St windows.

#16

Absolutely pathetic ratings for Seven. They’re really clutching the straws here.

#17

Screening rubbish like an American talent show in prime time is not going to help.

They should be screening stuff that can be promoted to viewers of the Cricket. That worked for Nine but they also had a lot of male skewing programs they could promote. Unfortunately for Seven, they have more female skewing programs so that’s going to be a harder task.

Seeing what’s happening now, they could come to regret taking on Cricket and dumping Tennis in more ways than they imagined.

#18

Exactly. They could’ve done a Before the Game style show that looks ahead to the BBL matches. Instead they’re only interested in doing f**k all.

#19

Well they probably don’t have a lot of cash after the amount they paid.

#20

That’s a bandaid solution to the problem and would only delay the fundamental systemic change needed to address homelessness and factors that contribute to it. Very short sighted and borderline unethical.
