Nine was 10 clear of second-placed Seven for the fourth consecutive Tuesday. ABC was up slightly mostly at the expense of 10 where 10Bold dropped by one point.

Nine was able to win all five metro markets even though Seven had the number one main channel in Perth. Nine was also an easy number one in the key demos with 10 again beating Seven to rank second – main channel and network.

Married At First Sight recorded its second highest audience of the season breaking through the one million barrier for the third time in 2021.

On 10, The Amazing Race was even with last week with top 5 demo finishes while Seven’s Surveillance Oz factual finished below 300k in a distant fourth place at 7.30 pm.

ABC has some success with the most popular post 8.30 entry with the premier of Exposed The Ghost Train Fire.

MAFS is gaining momentum having it’s second night above 1million this week. That is almost 4x the audience of Surveillance OZ Dashcam on Seven…

Nine are so lucky Seven isn’t competitive, making MAFS shares bigger than when it rated higher against moderate competition.

7 also makes TARA looks less fizzled.
While I understand Covid etc but next year keep it to 2 eps and in October/November 2022.

Someone needs to ring the channel Seven programming department and let them know anyone interested in watching dashcam videos is doing so on social media.

This was just episode 1. The 8pm episode rated lower so that the hour rated lower than Ultimate Tag did last Tuesday - may as well have stuck with the reality show that had better demo results.

Pretty sure Seven are saving money and don’t have any phones. I’m sure it’s automated email only.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the programming is also automated. There doesn’t seem to be any rational, human thought being put into it.

Those 10 News First numbers are worryingly low.

I am not exactly painting a very beautiful picture of Seven today.

With the way their ratings are going since Day 1 of 2021, I am not sure if Seven is able to make up lost ground by relying on just the AFL and to some extent Big Brother (for the demos). And I understand that the Olympics is not counted towards the ‘normal’ ratings.

Some of the other shows (eg Farmer, SAS, Voice) may perform decently but I am just not sure this is enough and bearing in mind that Nine hasn’t really put a foot wrong for a while now.

Like any other program/event which airs during the ratings year, the Olympics count towards the official ratings. For PR/spin purposes though, the networks which don’t have the rights tend to exclude it.

Thanks for clarifying. Given the amount of money that Seven had spent on the Olympics, I don’t think it is unreasonable to include the event in the official ratings.

In that case, Seven does have a chance to take the crown this year

The reason that Olympics are usually excluded is because of advertisers who are the principle reason the ratings exist.

The networks negotiate advertising rates based past performance. So advertisers are only interested in Seven’s performance without the Olympics as they won’t be in the next year’s schedule.

The practice has a long history and was perpetuated by Seven when Nine had the London Olympics.

From Seven’s end of year ratings report for 2012:

However, the ratings for the full period are available and that is what we will report here while pointing out that network PR may show different numbers from those we post.

There’s a Luna Park doco? I need to see that!

Oh, I thought it was about the park itself, kinda in the style of those old Travel Channel documentaries.

Nevertheless, looks interesting!

Seven News Melbourne able to win the first half hour, but didn’t have the momentum to keep pushing through. It does somewhat make sense though - more were watching The Chase Australia in Melb compared to Hot Seat.

If you take a look at Sydney at 5-6, it appears that ~1000 more were watching The Chase Australia, so I guess it was just more of a rational decision for Sydneysiders to tune into Nine News Sydney.

Numbers for Seven and Nine Adelaide’s news were also fairly close in Adelaide, particularly from 6:30.

The only saving grace there seems to be a number just over 100,000 in Sydney, and the fact that 10 News Perth is still in the running against Nine.
