The Super Switch flops big time – it ranked a well deserved fifth in its timeslot – almost 100k behind SBS with 308,000. No happiness in the key demo results either, giving Seven its lowest Tuesday main channel share this survey. It missed the top 20 in all markets expect Adelaide where it ranked 16th. No amount of tweaking, encores or promotion will save the show.

The Voice and Masterchef both benefited from the poor figures for The Super Switch (even though it trended at No.2 on Twitter worldwide last night).
The Super Switch could be the difference between Seven winning or losing the whole week! And with Wimbledon starting on July 1, Seven cannot put the relationship show in a late night timeslot either. Maybe just make it a 7plus exclusive. Anyway, Seven will have to reconsider its plan to just show House Rules twice a week now.
Interview with special guest Michael Caine did well considering the low lead-in.

The ABC would have done a better job explaining the Super changes.

Just when I thought that Seven is starting to pick up its game after the onslaught of MAFS and now they are starting to crumble again. They should just give up on all these pseudo relationship/dating/swingers reality shows. Maybe they should have spent more money on established (albeit tired brand) like X-Factor and the outcome wouldn’t be as disastrous.

Perhaps that’s why they dug up Australia’s Got Talent?

Super Switch deserved to flop. Maybe if they kept the original Seven Year switch title it might have done alright. It now just looked like a blatant MAFS rip-off. Maybe the hope is that flooding the market with all this rubbish might take the shine off MAFS.

Was this worse than Changing Rooms coming back? Beaten by SBS. How funny.

The current ‘disaster’ at Seven doesn’t bode well for The Proposal. In fact, apart from AFL, I struggle to see anything positive for Seven for the remaining of 2019. At least Nine has The Bock and Ten has Survivor and Bachelor/Bachelorette.

AGT doesn’t scream ‘excitement’ to me but for Seven’s sake, hopefully I am wrong.

Seven is screwed. Awful show after awful show. AGT won’t save them either.

If they didn’t have AFL…

The media is going to have a ‘field day’ reporting on Super Switch.

It was pretty obvious from the get go that the Super Switch was going to fail. I don’t know what Seven were thinking. A show like this might do OK in a later timeslot with a good lead in but definitely trying to mimic Married at First Site at 7.30pm was always going to fail.

The people have spoken. Enough with the confected, faux reality relationship crap. People are crying out for real entertainment and are turning to streaming services for it. I have an abundance of good stuff on my watch list and none of it is being provided by commercial FTA. Most of it is drama. Remember when Seven was the home of must watch, quality Australian drama? What happened?

The quality of commercial FTA television is a national disgrace.

Super Switch had 308,000 ranking 22nd behind Mr Black in 21st place. More here:

Note to Seven: Viewers may love entertaining reality trash, but they can smell imitation reality trash a mile away.

With MKR, Masterchef and House Rules faultering this year, Changing Rooms and Super Switch flopping and Dancing With The Stars quite lacklustre, we may have turned a corner on reality shows.

Maybe the networks need to find something else that viewers will think is worth tuning in to.

HA! So glad that Super Switch rated poorly for Seven.

Glad Denton improved on its poor lead in.

Doesn’t bode well for the new season of Australian Ninja Warrior either.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

That quote is a key theme emerging from this ratings year so far - it applies to a number of any number of things with Seven’s latest failure launching a relationship/dating show being the latest example of that

This goes back to the discussion had in Sunday’s ratings thread - it’s all well and good for people to say that they want ‘real entertainment’. However, the problem is (aside from a few exceptions) the only programs which draw big numbers at the moment are reality shows.

The only way the programming cycle Australian FTA has been in for the last decade will change is if viewing habits change and while shows like MAFS and The Voice are outperforming everything else - that frankly won’t happen

They aren’t really giving us any other options. How do they know something different won’t work if they don’t try a drama or doco series in a 7.30pm slot? Those genres have worked tremendously well in the past during early evening.

The networks have effectively killed off all other forms of entertainment because it is cheaper and easier for them to produce the plethora of rubbish content they currently do
