Nine has its best Tuesday since early July while 10’s share dropped from the previous week. Nine’s success was driven by The Block that posted its best Tuesday of this series. Survivor was steady and continued with its record ratings.
Part Time Private Eyes just made the top 20 up against Seachange and Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds that both rated better than last week. It was competitive in the key demos ranking 11th in 25-54 (Seachange was 10th, Old People’s Home 12th) and performed better than repeats of NCIS.

In the Brisbane news battle, a big switch over for the second half of the bulletin with an even split at 6pm followed by a win to Nine by 60,000 at 6.30pm!

Seven continued its struggle on Tuesday nights with Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly slipping further. There was also a similar switchover in news in Melbourne, but not before Seven News Melbourne rebounded from Monday’s big loss by winning the first half hour.
Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds continued to attract good ratings.

Should be a no brainer for 10 to commission a full season of PTPE, to have on-air early next year as part of their Q1 strategy.

The Chase?

Outside the top 20, Louis Theroux 21st, with The Proposal losing +50k from the first two episodes to rank 26th. How long will Seven persist? NCIS ranked 41st

The Chase also won in Melbourne on Monday but Nine News won the hour by a substantial margin.

The third season of The Good Doctor premieres in the US on Monday September 23, meaning Seven can fasttrack it the next night September 24, also the night of Seachange season 4 finale. Alternatively, Seven can wait one more week and debut Secret Bridesmaids’ Business on October 1. Either way, The Proposal will be bumped from the post-8.30pm timeslot.

Ten News Brisbane was #1 for Ten’s news!

Those 6.30pm half ratings for Nine News Sydney…it’s almost as if there’s something missing from Seven’s bulletins at the moment!

This is SO old now.

Sick of reading the same thing from you everyday.

We GET it. You don’t like Amber and want 9Syd to have a meteorologist for a 3 minute segment.

Do we really have to hear about it every single second day?

If there’s credible information which proves that my observations about Sydney’s TV news ratings and the weather coverage is unfair, then I want to know about it.

It might’ve been only a 3 minute segment in the past, but I think those dynamics have changed since about 2013/14 because now we get a minute or so (occasionally longer, especially if there’s a particularly newsworthy element to the weather that day) Weather Preview before the first ad break, followed by two or three short teasers before the main segment.

I don’t mention it literally every single day, only when there are trends which I feel are worth discussing. The increase of Nine’s 6.30pm ratings in the absence of David Brown is something I want to have a conversation about.

Likewise, when the 6.30pm ratings of Seven News Sydney were increasing before Brown went on leave - that was a conversation worthy trend.

There’s no proof it’s correct either. Banging on about the same theory every day is not going to prove it right.

Tuesday 11 September 2018 - Nine News 6:30pm rated almost the same as last night. I’m not seeing an upward or downward trend year to year.

What’s a more interesting trend there is that at the 6-6:30pm half hour, Seven News Sydney is up 14%, whilst Nine News Sydney is down 6.9%. In the 6:30-7pm half hour, Seven News Sydney is up 4.4%, whilst Nine News Sydney is down 0.7%.
