9Gem’s tennis coverage delivered for Nine last night, lifting the network to a narrow network victory as Seven had the number one main channel. Otherwise numbers were pretty consistent with the previous week though ABC dropped 1.6.

Nine won the east coast and key demo groups with Seven winning Adelaide and Perth.

The three reality programs showed small increases from the previous week with Big Brother winning at 7.30pm. Big Brother and MasterChef shared the honours in the key demos.

The Weakest Link lived up to its name and crashed out of the top 20 for its second episode shedding 120,000 viewers. It managed 18th place in 25-54.

Another big night for news in Melbourne with Nine’s 400k viewers helping the Nine News to number one in the five cities.

Good luck trying to find anything positive to spin about this one Nine.

Isn’t it funny how the tables turn? Big Brother was third on Monday, and then finishes first last night (excluding the boardroom portion of Celebrity Apprentice).

Nine News gets a rare 5-city win over Seven News, with the 6pm half hour in Melbourne rating strongly for Nine.

The Weakest Link’s figure this week is okay considering the show only airs at 9pm, but Nine will be concerned by the huge drop-off.

Love on the Spectrum also had a drop off in viewers compared to last Tuesday, but still remains strong in Melbourne where it only shed 7k viewers in that city from last Tuesday.

Good to see Roland garros French open crack top 20 in terms of multi channel programs.
The weakest link crashed out of top 20.
Nine news had a strong win on the east coast, while seven news retained Adelaide and Perth.

At breakfast Sunrise opened up a +60,000 lead over Today that fell below the 200k mark just 1,000 ahead of News Breakfast.

In a familiar pattern Sunrise won all markets except Brisbane were it was a distance third. Today was third in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

I wander if nine are concerned about Today. They’ve fallen quite hard lately. Wonder if Karl’s pay packet is worth it.

I have to say I haven’t felt so excited to read the daily ratings report for a long time. I never know which 1 of the 3 reality shows would come out on top every day. This is great :+1:

I’d say Nine would be happy with Today’s performance. There are ups and downs but it is much more competitive than it has been in total people and is often a winner in 25-54.

Last week the show was 40k behind Sunrise.

With Nine’s game show more than 100k behind Love On The Spectrum last night (which despite a fall in ratings everywhere, held up better in Sydney & Melbourne than in the other three metro markets), I think it’d be fair to say this is the message to Magda Szubanski from Australian TV viewers:

YOU are The Weakest Link, Goodbye!

I don’t think Magda is the weak link. The show feels dated and even with a refreshed set it’s not enough. Maybe they should have tried a similar but different show like Still Standing which screens on Europe with Magda hosting.

Even if they tweaked and didn’t have the contestants fall through floor, at least it would have felt new. NBC did a version called Who’s Still Standing? Which only lasted a season but it could have worked better for Nine.

Incorrect - Seven News Adelaide and Perth rated higher than their counterparts on Nine.

Do you mean Nine News rated higher overall for the hour?

I meant that Nine’s national 5-city total was higher than Seven’s, at 6:00pm and 6:30pm.

I also don’t think that a 9:10 pm start time was much help.

Considering that de Minaur and Barty were playing, it would have been concerning if the ratings for the Tennis didn’t rise

Yep, and looking at those figures, a lot more people are watching Barty. Nine will be pushing for Barty to be first on tomorrow night.

Wonder how the main channel portion did (11:30pm) when Barty switched to main channel and finished at midnight including court interview a few minutes later after an ad break. Guides had this 30min listed separately too. @TV.Cynic

10 Perth is rating a bit soft lately

It rated less than the 9Gem Late coded segment.
