Meet your 2025 triple j Unearthed High winner
16-year-old hip-hop prodigy DRIZZZ has taken the crown in triple j’s 2025 Unearthed High competition.
Fierce bars, heavy energy, and a flow that cuts through like nothing else – DRIZZZ’s explosive drill track ‘Who’s Dat!’ had the triple j Unearthed team hooked from the first listen. Backed by two strong singles and an impressive run of live shows, DRIZZZ is fast emerging as one of the most exciting new voices in Australian hip hop.
triple j Unearthed Music Director Claire Mooney says, “It’s impossible to ignore an Unearthed High entry that crashes through the noise with as much confidence, charisma, and energy as sixteen year-old DRIZZZ. ‘Who’s Dat’ is a statement track, one so impressive we had to double-check his age! Razor-sharp bars, flow and presence that hits instantly boosted with the slickest UK Hip Hop production, DRIZZZ is already sounding ready for the big leagues. One of the most exciting voices we’ve heard all year and we’re so proud to crown DRIZZZ as our new Unearthed High champion!”
This morning, triple j Breakfast hosts Concetta & Luka surprised DRIZZZ with the news at his school in South-West Sydney.
As part of the prize, he will get to work with hip hop master-producer Nerve for a songwriting session, as well as receiving mentorship and support from industry experts and the team at triple j.
With over 1,300 entries from high school-aged artists around the country, the 2025 edition of Unearthed High has hit new heights, marking one of the biggest waves of young talent we’ve ever seen, including this year’s exceptional finalists - Frank & Louis, heyzuko!, RIAH and Theeth.
Running within the Unearthed High comp for the last decade, the Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative brings deadly high school aged talent to the forefront. The 2025 winner is16-year-old Gomeroi songwriter Kyla Belle. Her alt-country ode to teenage identity, ‘Myself’, demonstrates her ability to craft intricate stories into meaningful and memorable melodies. As the winner she’ll be teamed up with acclaimed Australian producer and engineer Konstantin Kersting who will mix her next single and she’ll be receiving mentorship from triple j’s own Nooky.
triple j Unearthed extends a massive thank you to every artist who entered this year’s competition as well as all the parents and teachers who have helped them express their creativity.
