Today was live in QLD, that saw it finish at 8:10am local time. With Today Extra taking over the coverage of flooding etc was replaced by entertainment news. Meanwhile over on Sunrise news continued.
Tim seemed to be strategically placed outside a 24 hour McDonalds

The regular team was on this morning with delayed broadcast into Queensland. There was a 60 year anniversary tribute to the Sound of Music including costumes! Kate Creedon read the 9am news.

That second last shot could become a News brand for Nine. 9 News at 9. Possibly a weekend thing if they moved Weekend Today to 6am start on the weekends.

Today started with two reporters at the hotel fire on GC. Sarah Stewart was on weather in the studio to start but later Kendall took over after earlier reporting on the fire. Sarah later did a news report from the newsroom. (On News Breakfast Nate, the weather reporter was also on the Gold Coast and reported on the fire).
Danika presented sports from Newcastle after last night’s NRL.

Only in Newcastle because of the NRL last night, would have been too difficult to make the trip back to Sydney after the game.

Yep. She’s going to be absent from the panel quite a bit. Would have preferred Roz for some cohesion and consistency.

Most of the time, that stadium will be in Sydney, so it won’t be a problem.
There doesn’t seem to be an issue with cohesion from her limited time on the show already, so I think they will be fine.
While Roz may seem on the surface a more consistent option for Today, you would have to consider the flow-on effects. You would have to replace her as weekend sport presenter in Sydney and likely on WWOS as well, and she does do a bit of hosting throughout the year as well. Mason, on the other hand, seems to have only dropped the SFS hosting role since taking on the Today job.

Doubt she would have dropped her news hosting. Deb kept it when she was host of Today. Look at Danika now, she’s doing crazy hours keeping her NRL duties. Also Clint does 7 days. At least Roz would have been in studio more.

At what point does Nine become responsible for the long-term welfare of their staff with some of these crazy hours and work arrangements?
Having somebody on air until late at night only to expect them to be up and on-air for breakfast the next day seems insane.

I used to finish work at 11pm to be back at work at 8am the next day. By the time you get home and start to wind down after work it’s after midnight. You could do it if you had to but should not be a regular thing. For me it was every month when the shift rotates. But yes they should care for their employees more but the all mighty dollar takes precedence unfortunately.

They also used to get Alex to do the 5am news. Bet he doesn’t miss that. who they got doing it now?
