What he says is “With a beautiful, fine, sunny day like this here on the Gold Coast, it is easy to feel like my work here as a weatherman is done”. That’s set up. He hadn’t announced anything at that point. It’s evident it was a mistake as the super comes off, only to cone back on when he actually announces it at 1.14.

It came off cause it said he’s leaving 9 after 7 years. The 9 is replaced by Today when the strap returns. He was at 9 longer than 7 years. He was with Today for 7 years.

Would love to see Mark Santomartino from Nine Melbourne trialled as weather presenter. He’s got the exuberant personality required for the role and is a seasoned presenter capable of covering serious issues also

Breakfast Weather presenters are roles never taken serious by executives, it’s never about the weather it’s all about fluffy bullshit.
Generally you get about 10-20 secs of weather and a minute or two of some nonsense. The old Bruce Nolan example comes to mind.

I can’t see Mia taking Today weather with a one year old at home. Tim wouldn’t be replacing her as weekend anchor in Brisbane due to that alone.

Every single time a major network story breaks he just keeps posting random things.
@Nathan_Kiamco Nick is currently host and anchor on Nova Brisbane. A much better gig than Today show weather.

Well, there are a few others who should join him in the ban. 
I was actually thinking the same thing, Gary won’t be around for ever, they could potentially have Tim on weekend weather instead of Luke Bradnam and then move him across to weekdays when Gary retires, the other option could be if they want to move Joel down to Today, you could move Tim to news in Brisbane.

Following Tim’s announcement yesterday, 7News QLD are apparently scrambling to find him a role on their Brisbane bulletin.

I don’t see why they couldn’t put him with Sam on weekends. They already do double header weekends in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Might as well do Brisbane (and Adelaide).
He’d be a strong anchor alongside Samantha. Sam is also away a lot so it would make the weekend bulletins more stable.

Tim is a good newsreader. But I think that if he is recognised by the audience it is for being the ‘weather guy’. That is why I think it would have been perfect to put him into a presenting role on Today to help transition the perception whilst allowing him to achieve his potential. In the same way, he would not have been seen as a candidate for hosting Today had he not done the weather stint in between. I think this is a mistake by Nine when they have lots of presenting roles open.

It was never going to happen. It’s pretty clear that he wants to live in Queensland. There’s no point even considering him for a presenting role in Sydney if he wasn’t prepared to move back. Just a waste of everyone’s time.
