Today

I think he will go on contract ending, it’s clear from all these podcasts that he has other interests now. He has been with Today for a while, most people get a bit stale and restless after a while, been there done that.

The issue 9 has is succession planning with the mornings. They have a whole bunch of people in the 9 News arm, but many are too stale for his role. It’s a
tough role to fill. 7 did well with Shirvo, I know many who have switched to sunrise since.

Did K&S and the team do a Easter Break/School Holidays break last year?

This is the first time I can recall both hosts having more than just the public holidays off at this time of year for both Today and Sunrise.

As much as I like David and Sylvia hosting the main show, it is so strange having Karl and Sarah off right now.

Melbourne ratings are noticeably lower without Sarah (as often happens).

Today are going to have to think carefully who they get to replace Sarah while she’s off on maternity leave, especially from a Melbourne perspective.
Don’t know who you’d get though.

Alicia would have been good if she was still on weekends.

Jackie O’s free. Big hit in Melbourne.

She did.

She also filled in on Mornings/Today Extra while Sonia was doing Big Brother in 2013 (Jane Kennedy also filled-in as well).

Shelley Craft and Natalie Gruzlewski also did fill-in on Weekend Today in the very early days I’m pretty sure.

It’s a bizarre decision to have the whole team off at the same time.

They do it quite bit here in the UK for School Holidays etc. it works out better than to have random time off.

And you get more of your ‘A-team’ together for longer

Its hard to keep good people but also to find new talent.
So give the established a break and invite others to step up, see how it goes.
