The Block on Thursday kept Nine’s winning streak for the week going with 5 straight days with over a 30% share. Nine had a rare win in all markets. 10 ranked second in Sydney.

Last night’s share was Nine’s biggest so far for a Thursday this year. 10’s share was unchanged week-on-week while Seven recorded its lowest Thursday share of the year. ABC and SBS also slipped from last week.

The Blocks’ 849,000 was down only slightly from recent Monday to Wednesday numbers and was easily the top entertainment show. The movie that followed however had just 298,000.

For 10, Gogglebox was down 30k from the previous week while the Prince Phillip special at 7.30 did the same as Making Hit had the previous week - a similar result to Wednesday’s outcome.

Seven’s spilt schedule dragged down with the T20 International.

Nine News topped the night with both 6pm bulletins above one million unlike Wednesday.

Seven’s share was dragged down by its cricket coverage - the match was interrupted by rain during the 16th over of India’s innings (out of 20 overs) and eventually abandoned just before 10pm AEDT.

The one-off screening of The Block gave The Block an easy win. Nine News was also well ahead of Seven News in Sydney and Melbourne, but lost narrowly to Seven News in Brisbane.

Hopefully this shows there’s an audience in the waiting on Thursday’s for Nine from October to March. They should jump on this and commission a format for Thursdays during the off season of the NRL.

That 10 News First Adelaide figure is beyond diabolical.

Yes, Seven News Melbourne with lower numbers (below ~300k), a fair margin behind Nine News. It’s in stark contrast to the days and weeks beforehand where there was fierce rivalry between the two news programmes.

It seems some of the appeal on Seven Melbourne’s bulletin was lost after the AFL season, and when people lost interest in the protestor chaos. Will be interesting to see whether numbers can continue the competition or whether their audience is tuning off a bit.

The Prince Phillip Special on 10 didn’t do any wonders. But Gogglebox that followed increased its lead in by nearly 300k, which is great.

The Block on Thursday did well too.

Because they’res Nine News at 5, which is Adelaide Produced which Probably tooked a lot of 10 News First Viewers away once Rebecca Morse and Co. were Axed last year.

They already have season 2 of Taronga: Who’s Who in the Zoo ready to go, plus Snackmasters which is currently filming. Sydney and Brisbane is also yet to see season 1 of Mega Zoo. All three shows will be suitable for Thursdays.

They absolutely dumped Making It too early, what a waste. They took a risk commissioning it and doing something different and basically gave up when it didn’t immediately fire.

Now they’ll have make goods with Spotlight & Bunnings they’ll have to fulfill, that that leaves them with another hole in the schedule they’ll need to fill.

It’s possible, also that 10 thought Making It would lose more audience as the weeks went by. Hard to tell if it had reached bottom last week.

Wow, that is truly awful.

Will probably never happen due to resourcing but if 10 ever want to regain any ground in Adelaide, live and local in the mid-late evening would be a good option (and a good trial, potentially for other markets).,

5pm in Adelaide is dead for 10 and even if they were to ever reinstate live and local, I’m not sure they’d regain much ground at this point without years of hard slog.
