Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2020. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

Seven recorded its best Thursday share in seven weeks to win prime time last night as 10 shed 4 share points without Gogglebox in its line up. Seven won all markets except Melbourne that was won by Nine. However, for the third consecutive day 10, won across the key advertising demos.

MasterChef topped the entertainment programs despite dropping almost 60,000 from the previous Thursday. Triple Home and Away made the top 10 for Seven ahead of RBT on Nine. Later, Seven’s movie offering had 371,000 and Nine’s 345,000 with Law and Order: SVU repeat on 10 ranking 26th.

Week-to-date:

Seven 26.1%
Nine 26.6%

Seven now has a realistic chance of taking out the week, depending on how its movie line-up and multichannels perform tonight and tomorrow.
The Chase Australia repeat did well despite audio problems on channel 70 in the eastern states.
The huge drop in 10’s share shows the importance of Gogglebox in its schedule. Seven and Nine saw their audience shares going up from last week without that show.

Another win for Seven News Sydney. Quite an interesting battle at the moment.

Considering all networks are under huge financial pressure right now due to advertising slump, 25-54 is really all that matters as that’s where the networks make money.

Do we have YTD shares in 25-54 across the networks @TV.Cynic ?

For both network and primary channel?

I don’t think you can say that with any certainty anymore really. Networks are going to be making money from advertisers who are making money, and they are not necessarily 25-54s (many of whom I’d suggest are currently unemployed).

It’ll be interesting to see what shifts have been made in advertising spend… I’m not sure we know that yet.

Even if there are some short term shifts in the market, 25-54 will continue to dominate income brackets for the networks. Every network wants younger viewers

Whatever you do, never mention Weather coverage, returning viewers who were last regulars in 2010-11 or Nine’s questionable presenter decisions (the GG/Deb debacle, prioritising Mark Burrows over superior female talent) whenever you discuss Sydney’s 6pm news ratings…it does not go down well with @David, @1169 and some others on this forum!

Other members can talk about those things. It’s just you mate when you bring them up every other day. Adds nothing to the flow of conversation. You don’t get mentioned almost every year in the “most obsessive member” category on the media spy awards for nothing.

Nice attempt at trying to be a smart arse though.

I don’t want to get into a fight with anyone, although I do want to discuss what I believe are the real factors/issues affecting the ratings of Sydney’s 6pm bulletins.

A few months ago I was slammed for saying that a Peter Overton interview with Brian Henderson brought viewers to Nine News Sydney’s first bulletin of the ratings year, yet based on the figures we’ve seen this week I’m probably supposed to believe that the one Pete had with Gladys Berejiklian (which received even less pre-bulletin publicity, never mind that Sydneysiders are likely to have vastly more favourable opinions about Hendo than Gladys) on Wednesday night was a ratings drawcard?!

You over think everything IMO.

Thank you for the ratings report. Good to see the morning news ratings on for the various stations. Looks like the ABC beat Seven and Nine’s morning news.

Triple Home and Away seemed to do well for Seven.

Sorry to disappoint the demo-deniers, but advertising is still focused on the key demos groups. You just have to look at the advertising on MasterChef last night to see where the money is coming from and who is being targetted. I did a scan of last night’s show and found the only advert that was not targetting a key demo was the Commonwealth Govt info advert that would have been aimed at all ages. I’d say that 95% of nationally placed adverts would still be aimed at 16-54.
