#2

Ten’s highest network and main channel share of the survey so far including the top rated channel in the key demographics.

The biggest changes from last Thursday were Escape from the City dropping 70,000 and a Hughesy “encore” boosting 10’s 9.30 performance (and outrating the original Sunday broadcast). Ms Fisher drops again.

Show Me The Movie!: Biggest audience of 2019

#3

Ms Fisher drops lower and lower. Show me the Movie rises on Thursday nights, goes to show how wrong it was to start the show on Friday.

#4

Good share for 10. However, their highest rating show was only 600k it is nothing to crow about. 7 and 9’s thursday are bleak. I guess they only have a few more weeks and then sport starts back up again and should have their head above water.

#5

The NRL season starts next Thursday followed by the AFL the week after. That should make Thursdays more competitive.

#6

Total people numbers are only a small part of the story. Gogglebox’s demos last night rank as the number 5 or 6 program for the week so far, higher than anything broadcast on Seven; not a bad result for a Thursday.

PS and another big night for the new set for 10 News in Sydney. Looks like it will be the highest rated week this year.

#7

After a strong win from Nine, seven was able to bounce back with a win last night. I guess that next week, between the Storm and Broncos will do better on Nine, but I still think Seven will win. The week after, Carlton play Richmond at MCG and this will drive good number on 7/7mate.
Show Me The Movie rated not too bad, despite being soft numbers on Thursday Night. Ten was right to move from Friday’s to Thursday a few weeks ago due to dire numbers.

#8

Have the figures for 10 News First in Sydney been higher since the new set?

#9

Look two posts above yours!

#10

Gogglebox claims Thursday with a much needed positive for 10 in both total people and demos. People will watch 10, but only when there’s nothing elsewhere.

Home and away is really struggling as is The Project. Those numbers just seem to keep on declining for both shows.

#11

500 odd thousand for 3 eps of Home and Away doesn’t seem too bad , and after all the news and current affairs shows it is the second most highest show.

#12

The problem for home and away is that this year was a later start than usual due to the timing of the big bash league season. (The Big Bash league season is too long And this causes seven to lose the ratings week to nine thanks to tennis and married at first sight.)
Some home and away fans have lost interest over the past 5 years possibly due to storyline’s

#13

You forget that Seven replaced it with MKR for three weeks and it show had stronger ratings in that slot so Home & Away had a big audience available to it but they didn’t stay for H&A.

Yes, storylines, characters and actors are probably bigger contributing factors to the decline.

#14

The ratings improvements for 10 News First in the Sydney market? Highly overstated because it ranked no higher than #15 (if you count the 6pm & 6.30pm halves of Seven & Nine News as separate programs) last night.

Comparing apples with apples (main news services against main news services, despite their timeslots), ABC News got 96k more viewers, Seven was 131k/142k ahead while Nine smashed 10 News Fourth by a whopping 178k/173k. Whether people like it or not, Peter Overton scored approximately double and three quarters the amount of Sydney viewers that Sandra Sully received last night.

When improvements in the ratings of 10 News First are sustained over an extended period of time, then we can talk. Although I somehow doubt this is going to happen.

…and unfortunately for Ten, last night will probably be the final time Gogglebox the was the #1 non-news/current affairs program in Sydney & Brisbane for a while, with next week’s return of Thursday Night NRL likely to take 100k or so away from Gogglebox.

Mind you, Storm v Broncos probably isn’t that attractive of a season kickoff from a Sydney perspective - I’d bet TCN would’ve loved to have Friday’s Roosters v Rabbitohs match on Thursday!

#15

Agree. The 7pm slot has been problematic for H&A for years. It’s not like all of a sudden it is a problem this year due to Big Bash, etc.

#16

10: has a good night.
MS: nothing to crow about.

–
it proves that 10 isn’t dead, and that there is hope. If only they commission programming that wasn’t axed years ago and/or isn’t in a stupid timeslot.

#17

Gogglebox has always held up well against the NRL and with the disarray the game is in at the moment, Gogglebox is likely to be unaffected by the season kickoff.

#18

But its just one show and an encore that went right. There is still a lot they need to work on. Its fact. You can’t just discuss one timeslot and give them praise for that. There is good and bad. The demos fantastic for Gogglebox. Show Me The Movie didn’t do much. The Project was under 400k.

If Married was getting 1.3 million and the news, and 8:30 shows under 500k would we be saying 9 we just be praising 9. No.

#19

One wonders how many viewers Hughesy has when all the encores are added together. There must be an audience for the show. Just needs the right lead in and time slot.

Not much ten can be doing right now to change it. People are obsessed with reality on multiple nights. Not sure why. I can’t commit to multiple night shows. Providing “the alternative” as we are told ten is known for is clearly not working.

#20

Can we stop comparing the news please. They air in different time slots and it is hard to compare the both. 10’s improvements in the news department are very underrated. But 10’s news have never focused on competing with other news. They want to improve the timeslot. It takes time
