The final of The Bachelorette couldn’t lift 10 out of four place in the overnights on Thursday. Nine did best, with The Block helping the network record its highest Thursday share since May. ABC picked up 3 points with ABC News the number one multichannel over 4%.

Nine won the key demos with 10 second. Nine won the east coast with Seven on top in Adelaide and Perth.

The Block was the number one entertainment show, improving 40,000 from the previous Thursday. The Bachelorette final could only manage 500,000 rising to 573,000 for the final decision. That is the lowest final in the franchise’s history and compares to 849,000 and 1,006,000 last year. Seven’s Britain’s Got Talent ranked 27th.

The aftermath of the US election saw very large breakfast TV numbers. News Breakfast’s combined two channel audience was number one, just ahead of Sunrise – both with over 300,000 viewers.

10 will be disappointed with the ratings for this season of The Bachelorette overall. Having two sisters choosing from the same group of men was a mistake.

I’d say everyone has had enough of The Bachelorette, The Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise type shows. None of them fired up this year.

I agree. Too many Bachelor-type shows this year. The numbers weren’t great for this season and for the final last night. The majoroty of the show was below The Project (7pm portion). Ouch.

Great ABC news numbers across all day parts.

10 really need to scratter the franchise throughout the year and not have one after the other. I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t have one in April and then one in September.

I think the problem with both franchises this year was COVID. They were lucky to even get shows to air, with many of the usual things seen on the show having to be modified because of travel restrictions and social distancing.

The ratings Bluey gets are quite extraordinary - the morning airing (if I’m interpreting the coding correctly) not only outrated all of the breakfast programs but several primetime shows as well

It’s remarkable considering the ratings of the breakfast programs are usually averaged over two hours, but each episode of Bluey is seven minutes long. So for those seven minutes you have a high concentration of viewers.

Regardless of whether it’s due to the pandemic or something else entirely, I’m not overly disappointed to see a decline in ratings for Bachelor/ette and similar programs this year.

The sooner that Bachelor/ette, MAFS and other such rubbish becomes part of TV History, the better.

Unless I’m reading the ratings completely wrong, ACA and ABC News were equal #1 at 7pm in Sydney last night with 195k each.

ACA probably ran a few minutes overtime and outrated ABC News plus a few minutes of 7.30.

It’s still a questionable way of saying you’re #1 though, isn’t it?

They got everything so wrong about this Bachelorette season. The double format with so few episodes just didn’t work. Becky also was a very poor casting choice. No doubt next year Ten will need big Bachelor / Bachelorette names plus some tweaking of the format to freshen it up and get back viewers.

Nine News Melbourne won the 6:00 portion, but suffered a drop in viewers and lost to Seven News at 6:30.
Seven News Brisbane won the 6:00 portion, with Nine News Queensland winning the 6:30 timeslot.
A closer contest in Adelaide with Seven News falling below 100,000 across the hour, and ABC News SA figures were practically on-par with Nine’s.
