Last Night saw a big turn around in ratings fortunes from last Thursday with Nine slipping from first to third as a one-sided NRL match failed to perform well for the network.

Over on Seven the return of The Front Bar helped boost the network to number one while 10 lifted its share as well by almost 3 points.

Predictably, Nine won the NRL states while Seven won in AFL territory while 10 ranked second in all markets except Brisbane.

In key demographics 10 easily came out on top with Nine second.

Leading the entertainment shows was MasterChef up slightly on the previous week. The show outperformed the NRL this week in Sydney and Brisbane.

Britain’s Got Talent’s move to Thursday saw the show lose some audience.

Solid debut for UK drama Miss Scarlet and the Duke despite lack of promotion on main channel. The double episode helped 7TWO to tie with 10 Bold for first place on multichannels.

The NRL ratings in Brisbane were well down on last Thursday. The Broncos’ poor on-field performance (thrashed 59-0 by the Roosters last night) didn’t help.

9GO! dropped to 1.5% share with the debut of Duncanville getting very low figures at 7.30pm.

Nine probably right in asking the NRL for a discount with those types of ratings.

More evidence to show chasing some sport strategy is not that necessary for Ten.

Pretty bold/stupid to draw these conclusions on the basis of a near 60 point blowout with the game over inside 20 minutes.

HA agree. My parents were babysitting and when I got home at the end of the game and saw the score I questioned why they bothered to keep watching such a boring, onesided game.

That Melbourne audience for The Front Bar is quite impressive. Seven would be stupid to do anything with it given that they’ve already axed their existing AFL shows and it performs relatively well.

Report today includes commercial market share in each city. Also shares per demo group as usual.

Ratings: Seven wins Thursday as Nine slips to third with one-sided NRL match

From Nine

9News 6.30 was the No.2 program of the night across the East Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and in Brisbane.

A Current Affair won its 7pm timeslot in Melbourne.

Hot Seat won the gameshow battle in Sydney and Melbourne.

Nine looks like it will win the week in total people plus 25-54. 10 is so far a head in 16-39, it will probably win there again.

7WO’s total people numbers last night looked good, but it ranked last in the 3 key demo groups for commercial multichannels failing to even reach single figures in the 16-39 age group. Such a contrast to 10 Bold that seems to be able to attract younger audiences with what can look like a ‘older’ line-up.

from David’s comment in 9Go!: Nine already bump it for a 3 ep burn off

Wow, so Duncanville must not have even done that well in the key demos @TV.Cynic? 7mate’s animated sitcoms don’t usually make total people either (though the odd one has recently), but always make the Top 5 in all key demos and usually top them, as well as 7mate’s total people share still pretty good between 2.5-3%.

In Brisbane, 7 beat 9 with The Chase over Hot Seat and H&A over ACA, but 9 News beat 7News. Go figure.

There’s a lot of flip flopping by the half hour in all the states from 5pm to 7:30pm across 7/9/10.

However Ten News had dropped back to third overall with Bold & Beautiful reruns sending viewers elsewhere so it’s not as competitive in Total People as it was a few weeks ago.
