MAFS and Celeb crush cricket. Does anyone believe Seven when they say they’re happy with how the cricket is performing? I think anyone who is happy with that performance is either a liar or delusional.

New Amsterdam’s second episode holds up relatively well, doing good numbers for a drama on a Thursday.

Married held onto most of its audience from Wednesday and Celebrity improved. By comparison, Big Bash numbers look terrible again.

Nine News is having a bad week considering how the rest of the network is doing and 10Bold is number one multichannel.

The good news for Seven is that last night was the only Thursday episode of MAFS. For the next two Thursdays BBL will only be up against I’m a Celebrity and Gogglebox on 10, and Young Sheldon plus movies on Nine, so ratings should improve a bit.

MAFS continues to rule but I was expecting it and I’m A Celeb to do better without MKR up against it.

It seems like about 100k of Celebs viewers have turned to MAFS this week. I’m not sure MKR has had much affect on either as numbers for both shows were similar to Wednesday despite less viewers on Seven for the Cricket.

The Project dragging Ten down in Sydney. 87k is pathetic.

Seven didn’t get much more for Big Bash. Now that’s pathetic.

Nine had a rare win in Perth yesterday but Seven won Adelaide.

Outside the top 20 were The Conners 21st and Chicago Med 25th.

Sunrise was 80,000 ahead of Today winning every market.

This day last year was the Big Bash 1st semi-final.

Nine News Perth - lowest rating so far this year.

I’ve had a look and the FTA audience in 2018 was almost double what it was last night. Appalling numbers, even if you factor in the stupid simulcast agreement. As I said, celebrities and lovebirds are crushing cricketers this year and Seven look like they’ve signed a dud deal. They can deny and put on a brave face all the like, but the numbers speak volumes. If you were an advertiser where would you rather be? Sandwiched between shows that generate watercooler buzz and have loyal, engaged viewers? Or in between bowlers and batters no one is talking about and barely watching.

Plus the deal is far too confusing for fans. If all games were on FTA only then that’s fine but to have simulcast + pay TV exclusive is a joke.

Cricket Australia must be proud of their achievement.

I thought I’m a Celebrity would algo get an increase without MKR.

Has Studio 10’s ratings got any improvement this week with all the publicity?

Seven will be hoping the AFLW season opener rates strongly this Saturday to regain some ground on Nine.

You are definitely right about the numbers being down. However, comparing a semi final to a regular match is a little silly. Last year a game on a Thursday, the week before, got 780k this year it got 400k in seven and 180k on Foxtel. So roughly 600k are watching this year. It is down by roughly 200k (probably a bit more if you consider the fact Foxtel has regionals included). 7 have signed a dud deal because for exclusives rights you would take 600k and be complacent, not over the moon happy but you would be ok with it. For them to not have exclusive rights and be getting 400k is definitely an issue for them. I don’t think it’s 7 or Foxtel fault the figures are down. I think it’s the CA image, the longer drawn out schedule and the fact there has been little overseas talent to get excited about.

I can’t remember the last time Seven lost a summer. This is the first one in a long time. Getting cricket and losing tennis is the reason for that. Also, they’ve lost any opportunity to launch new shows to big audiences. Again, for the first time in how long. The consequences of the cricket deal will have a major ripple effect throughout the schedule and if the current results are anything to go by, said effects won’t be positive.

#17

I totally agree with you. I do think it would have been a different result if 7 had exclusive rights to at least the Big Bash. The deal 7 has signed has clearly not paid off at this stage.

Less than 600k as the Foxtel number is national rather than 5-city.

Sorry I should have said a lot less than 600k (as I have seen the 5city number for Foxtel)
