First look numbers

The launch of Pooch Perfect returned some good demo numbers for Seven but wasn’t a lot of help in total people as the network recorded its lowest Thursday share in four weeks. Nine managed to post an improved share while the return of Gogglebox saw 10 record its best Thursday in seven weeks. Nine won Sydney and Melbourne with Seven ahead in other markets. 10 ranked second in Perth.

Gogglebox was the top entertainment show of the night with 685,00. That compared to the Season 9 premiere in Feb 2019 that had 701,000 and the Season 10 premiere in August 2019 that had 704,000. Pooch Perfect beat Gogglebox in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth by very narrow margins but Gogglebox had decisive wins in the two biggest markets. Pooch Perfect ourated every episode of My Kitchen Rules so far.

Solid debut for Pooch Perfect. Given the mixed reactions on social media, it will be interesting to see how many viewers will be back next week.
Gogglebox did well despite the lower lead-in from Ambulance, and also topped all the major demos.
The women’s T20 cricket match between Australia and Bangladesh boosted 9Gem’s share.

Heh, something that doesn’t rate like complete crap for once on Seven.

Hopefully Seven considers putting decent programming on Thursdays permanently instead of triple Home and Away.

After reaching some highs recently, The Project and 10 News ratings seem to have taken a hit the last couple of weeks.

Not a great figure for Pooch Perfect. But it didn’t do too badly either. I was expecting more.

A Current Affair was having technical issues last night and were forced to play ads for quite a while before properly starting.

10’s network percentage didn’t see as big an increase as I would have thought.

10’s network share was 2-3% higher than the typical Thursday in Feb/March last year when Gogglebox aired.

Yes, I thought it would do a lot better as well. The competition at 7.30 on Thursday was minimal and it was receiving non-stop promotion, had a big star as a draw and a lot of potential family appeal.

Pooch Perfect has rated higher than Mkr has been lately? Maybe a new season of it next year instead of MKR lol ?

Maybe they will run Pooch Perfect across the whole week and show MKR on Thursday only. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That is bound to happen considering they had Changing Rooms last year. I just thought it would have a bit more of increase from last week.

Quite clear to me what the change is.

The better figures were when Waleed was on leave and now he is back the numbers are lower. Interesting.

Pooch Perfect is officially Seven’s #1 series
in 25-54 for all If 2020. That includes 7 News.

Seven sells 25-54 primarily, even though they (until recently) liked to tout Total people / it’s 25-54 that makes seven the most $$ - and pooch perfect is now their #1 show

And we all know seven needs money now

A reasonable start for Pooch Perfect however I’m sure Seven would have been hoping for it to score higher ratings than Gogglebox in all five metro markets across total people and the demographics, given the minimal competition and the fact there’s likely to be more families with children watching TV at 7.30pm compared to 8.40pm!

With that in mind, I’m still going to stand by my prediction of there likely to be more viewers of the inevitable Gogglebox review than Seven’s actual airing of last night’s first Pooch Perfect episode.

Ten should be happy that their airing of Gogglebox was the #1 entertainment show in Sydney with ratings on-par with the 6pm half of Seven News, especially since it’s likely that a lot of viewers in this market get their chance to watch Australia’s most famous TV viewers more than 24 hours earlier on Lifestyle.

In the Sydney market, Gogglebox rated >4 times higher on 10 than on Lifestyle the night before. The biggest Foxtel audience for the show was Melbourne but it rated higher on 10 there as well.

Maybe that explains Home and Aways big demo boost.

They have about 10 weeks of AFL games coming up, I’d call that decent content.
