With no AFL and no NRL, Thursday night’s ratings looked markedly different from the previous week. Seven suffered with a near 10 points drop in network share while all other networks saw their share improve. 10 recorded its highest network and main channel share of the 2020 survey so far.

Nine won all markets except Perth. 10 ranked second in Melbourne and Brisbane and equal with Seven in Adelaide. 10 won all key demographic groups with Nine second.

News was still the dominate genre on screens especially between 6 and 7pm, though there was a fall off for later bulletins. 10’s Ambulance Australia and Gogglebox won the post 7.30 timeslots both with season highs while Nine’s RBT and News special were also competitive. Pooch Perfect failed to gain traction and missed the top 20 in all markets except Sydney where it was 18th.

Ambulance Australia (which finished its third season last night) and Gogglebox both had massive increases from last week. It could be enough to renew the former for another season.
Big audience for Sunrise. Viewers have well and truly abandoned Pooch Perfect though.
Bluey has dropped below 200,000 mark after averaging around 350,000 last week.

Ten’s Ambulance and Gogglebox seemed to rate well last night.

Sevens Pooch Perfect failed. Nine dide well with RBT and the News at 8.30.

These are tough times with no Thursday night footy (AFL and NRL). At least it is now a mostly national schedule rather than a split schedule

TEN should re-run to the first two seasons of Ambulance Aust. It’s developed a following, but many viewers probably haven’t seen the earlier eps

33 THE HEIGHTS - ABC’s Soap opera managed to lose more than 2/3 of the lead in audience from 7.30

Really? I’m sure 10 have repeated those twice already.

The recast of the main character has ruined it for me.

I am being lazy but is the Heights season 1 still on ABC Iview?

How did the show ever get a second season? The ratings were always terrible. You can see the sort of numbers it is getting now by looking at last Thursday’s consolidated list. 250k after 7 day consolidated and 222,000 overnight.

A last night with a lead in of 800k it rated on slightly better.

Imagine how much better 10 could’ve done last night it they had run a quick 30 min news bulletin after Gogglebox. If I was them I’d be having Chris Bath doing a 9/9:30 bulletin in the evenings during the week and get someone like Lachlan Kennedy to present weekend news for a while.

Yeah. I can’t see why they went with that decision.

I know there is a lot of news. And the word “overkill” is Thrown around a lot. But there are 18 channels plus streamers. From a business point of view. There is an unprecedented demand and appetite for news. 10 is crazy to not be capitalizing on it. Not to mention the exposure and brand awareness for 10 news first they could be getting.

Plus, Bigger ratings - and preserving some content…

In this 9 or 930pm news they could run promos for the 6pm news and studio 10… build
The brand. Invite people back to 10 for more news

What the additional Coronavirus bulletins have really highlighted is the importance of a program having a good lead-in. This was again demonstrated last night by how Nine’s primetime COVID-19 bulletin didn’t perform as well as it has been because it had a weaker lead-in program in RBT

I enjoy the show but don’t watch it at 8PM on a thursday, i watched all 3 episodes last night on I-VIEW at midnight… so TV is no longer about committing to a time.

Three people that should never be given air time.
We don’t need their politically driven opinions, especially now.

Yet the ABC continue to include political spin in their coverage with their experts and presenter praise of Jacinda Arden. #notourABC

Glad to see SKY programs increase in ratings this week

Everything has increased… would be more concerning if it hadn’t!

Couple of things from last night.

Good quality entertainment programs can be just as or more popular than extended news coverage.

The Latest wasn’t up again Married At First Sight for the last 30 minute and it didn’t get any big boost in popularity and still ranked 4th across its timeslot.
