The fourth reality final of the week saw The Bachelorette come to and end for the year on 10. After the lowest rated season of the franchise so far, the show managed to end on a season high of 439,000 for the “Final Decision” while the rest of the final was the highest episode since launch with 361,000. That is the lowest final ever for the show and compares to last year’s 500,000 / 537,000.
Otherwise it was another close result with Nine’s channel line-up just ahead, though Seven had the number one main channel. It was Nine’s best Thursday share in 7 weeks.
Home and Away was the top entertainment show on offer slipping below 500k with Nine’s prime time Millionaire Hot Seat averaging 438,000. Later, the premiere of Quiz ranked 23rd and was beaten by The Front Bar on Seven that did very well in Melbourne, while ranking 15th overall.
For ABC, 7.30 won its timeslot with another Panorama special managing 300k. Later, Q+A was down slightly on the previous week ranking 22nd.

The Bachelorette Final could have done better. But it was a pretty flat season overall
The Hot Seat Millionaire special in primetime did okay. Shows that Nine can code Hot Seat as one compared to two segments of the afternoon version. Lol.
The Front Bar Cricket Special could have done slightly better.
The Bachelorette received a little boost for the finale, but overall this season has been a ratings disappointment for 10.
Hot Seat primetime special won its timeslot in Sydney.
The WBBL Challenger final lifted 7mate’s share even though it was another lopsided result in Adelaide’s favour.

The producers would have to be pissed off that Brooke chose a bloke.
The whole season was meant to be a monumental season first bisexual bachelorette etc (which in fairness she still was) but after all that it ended just like every other season of the show - a woman picking a man.
I reckon the producers were praying she’d pick a woman.

What a terrible take.
I’ve no doubt they would have been happy for her to choose whoever she wanted, whether that was a man or a woman. Casting her with the hope that she’d choose a woman for the sake of it to prove a point or for ratings gain is doing it for the wrong reasons.
You have some very cynical views on the world sometimes.

Come off it.
It was a stunt season and you know it.

Was it daring? Absolutely. It showed them that there isn’t enough public appeal or interest from your average viewers to sustain a season based on that premise - but to be fair the franchise was already on the wane and they just served up a regular season but with both male & females so it probably wasn’t really risky enough from the network.
But I don’t subscribe to the view that it was as much of a stunt as you’re implying, or that the “ producers would have to be pissed off that Brooke chose a bloke” and “I reckon the producers were praying she’d pick a woman” - that’s a pretty shit take and you know it.

It’s not a shit take at all.
They would have loved to be able to say that they had the first lesbian couple to come out of the franchise.
That’s why they did the season. For sure.

She’s bisexual (or more recently self described as pansexual), so fair to say it could’ve gone either way. If they wanted a lesbian couple, they would’ve done an all female version if that’s the outcome they wanted to try manipulate.
Despite the lower audiences in linear viewing, don’t discount the good this show has probably done for people in the LGBTQ+ community as well as representation of First Nations people and culture.
She seems happy with her decision, likely the network won’t attempt something like that for a fair while. Agree to disagree on this one.
