Seven News Melbourne records the highest rating bulletin of the year so far.

Anzac Day AFL was up on last year with the close finish keeping fans glued to their TV. ABC’s coverage of Anzac Day march, and the NRL match between the Roosters and the Dragons were lower than same time last year however.
The news and The Front Bar helped Seven to a comfortable win.

Last year:
SEVEN NEWS 1,322,000 (Melbourne 446,000)
SEVEN NEWS / TODAY TONIGHT 1,155,000 (Melbourne 406,000)
MY KITCHEN RULES 1,148,000

Front Bar over-run surely?

I think so, The Front Bar did finish until 9.53pm last night.
10 should be concerned with the ratings of Bachelor in Paradise. Although it won its timeslot in the 16-39 and 18-49 demos, total viewers were actually lower than Wednesday. The show will struggle on Sunday when it comes up against heavy competition. Whether it will get any boost from MasterChef next week remains to be seen.

#6

I would like to see 10 make Bachelor in Paradise a Peach exclusive next year. The demos are decent but they can’t expect it to hold a schedule together again next year.

I am very worried about Masterchef. I am expecting around 600k average for it.

I think it’s safe to say they’ve won their second week.

Can’t post it here but The Footy Show airing at 7:30pm didn’t do anything to improve its dismal ratings

Yep while The Front Bar apparently posted its best number of the year so far. Cue the ‘Jack the Ripper’ references (a doco about him was airing on SBS against TFS)

Behind the Storm v Warriors game on 9Gem?

#13

AFL Footy Show wasted a good lead-in from A Current Affair. It will be embarrassing if it got less viewers in Melbourne then Storm v Warriors NRL game.

I think it might be wise for 9 to move it away from the Front Bar. Maybe keep it on Wednesday’s.

But Nine may have other programs scheduled on Wednesdays after Talkin’ Bout Your Generation and The Voice. (New Amsterdam have a few episodes to go in the current season) Nine won’t want a split schedule three nights per week.

#16

I am agree there is not as much buzz for Masterchef but I still think it will rate around 700-750k before rising to 800k-1m when it gets to the later stages.

#17

Fox League’s viewing figures for yesterday’s Roosters v Dragons match were up 10k on the overnight figures for the same game last year though, so we can probably guess where some of the Sydney & Brisbane viewers Nine had 12 months ago may have gone yesterday.

Seems pretty obvious to me that 2019 will most likely be the final year of The AFL Footy Show.

The NRL version has already gone (and quite rightly so IMO) due to poor ratings, so it’s only a matter of time.

Why are the numbers for the NRL Anzac Day game so low on Nine in Sydney and Brisbane? I thought it was meant to be a major event…

#19

People on holidays. People not home.

With Anzac Day on Thursday, a lot of people have taken time off on Friday. The city is almost a ghost town today. It almost feels as quiet as the period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

We haven’t heard anything further about the Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman-hosted Footy Show specials that were announced at the start of the year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were quietly canned.

If (when) the show is cancelled, it would be good to see a Hey Hey style- one off reunion show in a few years time if they can get Eddie, Sam, Trevor, Garry, JB, Billy, Fev, Hutchy, Crawf, Dunstall, Schwarz, Hird etc to all appear together.
