10 secures the number one network, main channel and multichannel spots in Thursday’s ratings for the network’s best night of the 2020 survey so far. 10 won all markets except Perth that went to Seven as well as winning the key demos by a large margins.

MasterChef was over one million for the first time this week with 800,000 for the MasterClass that followed. Gogglebox that started at 9:45pm managed 601,000.

Billy Connolly: Great American Trail bombed bigtime for Seven to rank 29th fifth in the timeslot well behind SBS. Seven’s movie Contagion that followed ranked 24th while Nine’s Spectre had just 1,000 fewer viewers.

10 won Thursday for the second week in a row. It was MC MasterClass’ biggest audience - excluding contestant reunions - since June 30, 2016 (807,000 after the elimination episode got 1.002 million). Gogglebox did well despite the late start.

Great American Trail is only a 3 part series, Seven will leave it at the 7.30pm timeslot.

Nine’s share went up from last Thursday largely at the ABC’s expense. Hot Seat beat The Chase in Melbourne at 5.30pm by a substantial margin, which led to a big audience for Nine News.

Huge night for 10. Gogglebox did really well at 9:30. You understand why 10 show Masterclass at 8:30 when Gogglebox manages to bring an audience in late at night. I am sure it will pick up viewers in catch up.

I really didn’t expect Masterchef to still be getting 1 million viewers. The season is continuing its strong run. It probably will only get bigger as the series goes on and shows like Lego Masters finishes. I am not even sure 9 has any other reality shows ready to go after Lego Masters is finished.

Gogglebox did very well for the 9.30 slot. Shows people still want to watch certain shows at 9.30, instead of lowly US dramas

The new season of Australian Ninja Warrior is now in post-production and should be ready to air when Lego Masters finishes next month.

I forgot about Ninja!

Mammoth ratings for Nine News in Melbourne. Beat the 6PM portion of Seven News by 100k+!

No doubt because of the tragedy with Vic Police.

Ripper night for 10 also!

That is a fantastic result. I know I was very critical of the 6pm News but it seems to have lifted the audience of The Project and given better flow.

It is also amazing, and something the other networks have been unable to achieve, that NCIS hasn’t decreased its audience at 7:30 and audience figures have gone up on 10.

While I’m sure the COVID restrictions are inflating the figures, this ‘back to win’ series and new judges have been just the shot in the arm Masterchef needed. 10 must be wishing they’d done it a few years ago!

That’s because 10 included the contestant reunions for the comparison. That episode got 800,000.

10 News First ahead of 9 News in Too.

Really belongs to 7Mate. Not main channel material unfortunately and the ratings prove it.

Great night for 10 but I still would’ve put Masterclass on Friday. Looking at last weeks numbers 10 still would’ve won the night and had a competitive Friday in front of them.

What were 7 thinking? Just do reruns of Pooch Perfect if you really have nothing else. (That’s a joke)

If not for coronavirus, Seven would have been showing AFL last night on main channel in Melbourne and Adelaide. Seven is trying to find any programs to keep the timeslot warm for the return of Farmer Wants a Wife.

Yeah it could have helped boost their Friday night shares. But I wonder if airing Masterchef at 8:30 Thursday and Gogglebox 9:30 Thursday generates more money for them from advertisers than airing Masterchef on a Friday. They have been doing these Masterclass episodes for years and I have always been confused by it.

It’s a tough one, because Masterclass is down on what gogglebox had, and gogglebox also lost 300k viewers and with no competition on a Friday it would seem like a perfect time.
Anyway only one more Gogglebox now.
