#2

“How To Stay Married” bombed in the ratings without The Bachelorette as a lead-in.

It had to follow the low-rating and unfunny “The Conners”. These rebooted American sitcoms are not the answer for Ten. Expect more grief with Murphy Brown next week.

“Orange Is The New Brown” also very low.

Looks like a new high for “Paramedics” though without competition from Bachelorette and that not much competition from that soapie, which shall not be named. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

#3

Very sad. It is a great show. The Conners bombed. Ten are just in dire straits. Their position almost looks unrecoverable.

Another sad night for free to air television.

#4

It’s terrible. I watched both episodes. I only laughed once and that was a joke delivered brilliantly by Laurie Metcalfe. She should have got her own series instead and they should have left The Conners alone.

#5

Without The Bachelorette, How to Stay Married crashed while Paramedics posted a new series high and Orange is the New Brown rebounded a bit.

#6

Seven and Nine (as I predicted in the thread) both went up (Ch 7 around 4%) at the expense of Ten. 7mate down around 3% with Nine’s multi-channels holding. Giving Nine their 2nd Thursday win in a row, with a great audience for Paramedics, now bigger than Ambulance Australia, will certainly get a renewal.

#7

It’s clear that Ten cannot compete without one of their major tentpole productions at 7:30pm. The less said about their failed current affairs/comedy experiment between 6:30 - 7:30pm the better. Hopefully, one day Ten will realise that it’s dragging down their whole schedule ( a vain hope, given the number of fools that leap to its defence:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

#8

Already renewed in the upfronts, wasn’t it?
Not sure that you can directly compare the ambulance shows, as they’re on different nights against different competition. Actually, they’re all doing quite well.

#9

I believe the ABC Network in America made a mistake abruptly cancelling Roseanne. They could have punished her in other ways and sent a strong message, made her apologise in primetime or take pay cuts and donate to charity etc.

#10

I was feeling sad watching The Conners - not because of what happened in real life but for the death of the main character and the impact on the family, especially to John Goodman’s character.

#11

I am quite emotionally invested in 10 and its success personally - let’s be honest, I am not some right wing dumb racist nut to ever watch 7 - but the re-brand along with the past year as a whole has really been an epic missed opportunity on the part of management.

#12

How do you figure that? They’re the number one network.

Are you saying that the majority of Australians are dumb racist nuts or just the ones that watch television?

#13

Roseanne, i meant The Connors, bombed, which is a shame
I didnt expect huge numbers, but thought it would place a few positions higher than what it did

How to stay Married failed.

#14

Bride and Prejudice.

Constant racist overtones on their news services - see Media Watch for plenty and example.

Constant racist overtones on their advertising.

Also, yes. I am saying majority that watch television seem to be old dumb racist nutcrackers. Most of Queensland too.

#15

Such as? I don’t ever recall Seven being racist in their promos.

I think most hate Seven because they work with News Corp.

#16

So basically all the networks are racist :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

#17

Real pity about how to stay married. Pity it wasn’t aired at 7:30

#18

Ten deserve those woeful ratings for The Conners after refusing to air the final episodes of Roseanne.

#19

The last episodes of Roseanne which Ten screened didn’t do much better. That should have been a warning to them not to buy The Conners.

#20

There was a lot of sexual themed content in last night’s episode so even though M rated shows are allowed to air at 7.30 there may have been some backlash.
