Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2021. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

Olympic soccer coverage saw 7Mate with a 8.7% share lifting Seven to its biggest Thursday audience of 2021. That saw Nine and ABC each drop 2 points while SBS was down 3. 10 recovered from a couple of bad Thursdays without a reality franchise and was up 3.

Seven won all markets except Brisbane that was won by Nine.

News and current affairs filled the first six places with the first segment of the mid-season final of Home and Away the top entertainment offering of the night.

For 7 News - five days in a row above 1.2 million.

The “late” part of the soccer made the top 10 on 7Mate while The Front Bar Olympic edition averaged 480,000.

Meanwhile The Bachelor managed to improve on its launch episode without a competing relationship program to battle while the NRL missed the top 20.

I expected a bigger share from 7 mate with those ratings, but I guess time zones are going to play into it.

Bachelor is dead. Big budget show that is most certainly a loss making exercise.

High numbers on soccer on 7mate

Even more impressive is that the Olympic soccer audience on 7mate went up in the second half, after the NRL and The Front Bar finished in the east coast.

The Bachelor had a small rise from Wednesday’s premiere but the audience was still pretty low. 10 will have to rely on online catch-up to make up some of the losses.

You don’t think a show can make money online?

Indeed and still tops/wins demos in its timeslot.

10 don’t need it to pull 700k if it gets the exact same demo numbers.

The demo numbers for episode 2 of The Bachelor were all lower than the corresponding episode last year.

Almost as if the trend has been switched in Melbourne…
Seven News Melbourne took out the first half hour being 20k ahead, but was then overtaken by Nine Melbourne in the last 30 minutes, leading by ~2000.

In Sydney, Nine News was only ~1000 ahead of Seven News in the 6:00 period, though that gap widened from 6:30.

Seven News Brisbane was leading in the first 30 minutes but viewership lowered - Nine’s uplift saw them 25k ahead in the last half hour.

Fourth day in a row that both Seven and Nine News Adelaide are reaching heights above 100,000 - both news teams, especially Nine, must be quite proud!

Still wins in the demos. They’d make money off that. They’re not interested in total people. And it would be a highly streamed show given the teeny boppers not watching linear tv.

Episode 1 is currently the number one BVOD program - it took over from Love Island UK this morning.

I think you mean 7mate.

The table of top 20 always shows the Network total - so for AFL eg it is combo of Seven and 7Mate etc; in this case it is all on 7Mate.

From Nine:

  • NRL Thursday Night Footy a timeslot winner in Sydney and Brisbane
  • 9News the No.1 program of the night in Sydney, No.2 program of the night across the East Coast & Melbourne
  • 9News 6.30 the No.2 program of the night in Brisbane
  • ACA wins 7pm timeslot across the East Coast, and in Sydney and Brisbane

From 10
Network 10 (10 + 10 Bold + 10 Peach + 10 Shake):

  • #2 network in 16 to 39s.

The Bachelor Australia Thursday:

  • 502,000 capital city viewers.
  • #1 show in 16 to 39s.
  • #1 entertainment show in under 50s and all key demos.
  • #1 in its timeslot in under 50s and all key demos.

The Project 7pm:

  • #1 in its timeslot in under 50s and all key demos.
  • Biggest Thursday audience this year.

10 News First:

  • #2 in its timeslot in 25 to 54s.

So? It’s following the trend of 90% of the realities this year.

My point still stands. The night before Father had double the ratings but lost to Bachelor in demos.

Yes it’s looking stale in total people and down on demos, but still doing good demos against competition. (That’s not even including its online viewers)
