Nine’s decision to bump Love Island to later in the night paid off last night with the network receiving a big boost in share to win the night. That saw Seven drop by 3 points while 10’s line up was up +1. ABC was steady and SBS lost 1.

Nine slotted RBT and Paramedics into the line up with the 7.30 timeslot up 100k week-on-week while Nine was up 235,000 at 8.30. Later, Love Island and Love Island After Party were only down slightly on the previous week.

Seven News won at 6pm but Nine averaged highest across the full hour of news. Home and Away was down slightly.

The second episode of Bachelorette Australia was down 50k from the already low launch number but Gogglebox that followed was up 20k to be the number one entertainment title.

Devon & Cornwall With Michael Portillo and Q + A missed the top 20 this week down slightly.

Good to see the numbers for RBT and Paramedics doing well, and up from last week’s Love Island in that slot. Love Island is much suited to the 9.30 slot.

Gogglebox did well at 8.30 for Ten. The Bachelorette however, doing average numbers.

Happy to see 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (from SBS Viceland) top the Multi’s list. It was a good ep last night.

The Bachelorette not looking good in ratings, coming fourth in the timeslot.

Big drop-off for the Lazenby 007 movie, its audience halving in Sydney and Melbourne on the previous night’s Connery entry. Although, 9Gem’s share was still good, aided by Death In Paradise.

Easily won its timeslot in 16-39s though.

Plus the other demos as well.

Sunrise in danger - the team is the issue since Sam left. Bland hosts.

That’s more accurate.

I disagree, some of the Sunrise team are bland and boring and don’t offer anything. The only ones worth keeping on the weekday show are Kochie and Sam Mac IMO.

Again as much as I respect your opinion, I have to respectfully disagree.

Why does Sunrise have to be loud and offer something from the host? Karl and Ally are fairly understated yet they work well naturally and the same with Kochie and Nat. I can’t see anything wrong with either teams.

Like it or not the likes of Eddy, Monique and Ange would NOT be as good as Nat as host and Sunrise needs someone who is fairly understated and does their job like Nat is right now (and especially after getting rid of that loudmouth in Sam Armytage) They need to stick with their current team and make changes to other areas, namely their content and to a lesser extent, part of their appearance.

Personally I’d argue that Kochie & Sam Mac need to be moved on from Sunrise.

Yep, I agree.

For the first time since being in QLD I’ve started flicking to Today when Shaun White is on Sunrise (or in fact from around the time the 7:40 cashcow is done). The Today finance reporter Effie Zahos is just fantastic, with tips and info that are both useful and that I haven’t heard before.

I find that Sunrise’s tips tend to be basics that they have repeated many times - whereas on Today I genuinely learn something. I like watching Effie the same as I like Gemma Acton - as someone who doesn’t know much about finance, it’s enjoyable, easy to understand and helpful.

I mightn’t watch as much as I once did, but something that always stood out (including TMS) was the obvious Sydney-based location (Martin Place in the background and all that). While it tied-in nicely to certain elements of the show (like special events/music) and gave the show a more ‘live’ feel, I often wondered what effect that had on viewers in all other markets.

Yes Today and other national news programming has often been based in Sydney, but hadn’t been made as obvious perhaps.

Still, since the move there in 2004, Sunrise remained dominant for much of that, even in Melbourne, so that’s where it’s hard to back that thought up. None the less, still a fair thought though.
