#2

The BBL did well for Seven but the figures were lower than Wednesday’s season opener. The Scorchers’ poor batting performance in the first innings (all out for 103) and the early start in WA (4.15pm local time) also meant the Perth audiences were down.
The season finale of How to Stay Married just made the top 20, but it’s hard to see the dramedy getting renewed based on the low ratings it has attracted during this season.

#3

Would Ten have a higher share if the cricket wasn’t on Seven? Or is it more to do with the programming on Ten at the moment?

#4

It would probably be up around 10% on the primary channel without the cricket. How to Stay Married didn’t have a lot of promotion and unfortunately Aussie sitcoms are just hard to get off the ground. The ratings do not justify a return, which is unfortunate as it is a good show.

#5

Game 2 in 2017

Session 1: 826,000
Session 2: 860,000

How to Stay Married episode 2 was 23rd.

Sunrise was 21st. Slightly increased interest in Today - just 30,000 behind

#6

Down as expected due to the simulcast with Fox Sports. Still, doing what they wanted and needed – delivering bigger audiences than rivals and will do for the bulk of the next month until the Australian Open begins at least.

#7

Not sure I would be too thrilled if I was seven with those figures.

#8

It is a good show and deserves another season. It depends on whether they were getting enough viewers in the additional screenings, catchup and online. They might want to go ahead with it so they have some content for the future and try it out in other time slots. Maybe off the back of big rating shows like MasterChef.

#9

It’s the luck of the draw. Sometimes it will be a high scoring game and a close finish, or it can be a low scoring fizzer like last night.

#10

I am aware of that. But put it in perspective a little. For the sake of a few extra percentage points was it really worth the amount they paid?

#11

But also in perspective, what advertising revenue are they collecting and what would they have got without the cricket?

#12

Being a good show isn’t enough of a reason to justify another season. Ten are a mess of a network and you don’t clean a mess up by leaving it as is or tidying a bit here and there. The catch up audiences were not huge. I never saw it among Ten’s top performers in the VPM ratings or weekly catch ups.

#13

That’s not true. There are many shows which had a rough start but ended up being a big hit.

Have You Been Paying Attention was a disaster when it launched and now it’s huge. Blue Heelers had a terrible start and then came back to become Australia’s number one show and is still the longest running series (outside soapies). Speaking of which, Neighbours was axed on Seven and then became a big hit on Ten; next year it will be in its 35th season.

It’s up to 10 to see if it has potential and what they can do to make it a hit.

#14

The Conners has failed to find an audience on 10. I expect it to move to 10Peach in 2019.

#15

That is true but they still managed figures of not much less than the cricket. Border Patrol got 450k. LOL got 350k. The First Session of the cricket is only about 100k greater than Border Patrol was last year.

#16

The same thing happened the day after Lisa resigned, expect Today won. It plummeted back down the following day.

#17

Why no more daily ratings threads?

#18

OzTAM have closed for holidays and are not sending any official info to publish.

#19

How are MediaWeek and TV Tonight continuing to deliver daily ratings?

(Genuine question. No smarty pants intended)

#20

Ratings are still being recorded (obviously) and are available to networks on-line. Some media companies also have access to the data or networks can share the information.
