Little change from last Thursday with Seven and Nine very close on main channel shares with Seven’s multi’s delivering the win. Nine won the NRL markets with Seven winning in AFL territory. Seven just won the 25-54 demo while 10 won 16-39.

News numbers were down with Nine slipping below 1 million at 6pm. Nine News will average below 1 million this week,

The Bachelor was steady with the previous Thursday; The Front Bar was well up while NRL slipped to rank 21st. SBS’s Scenic Railway Journeys did well to make 15th place. Gogglebox USA slipped to 22nd.

Week-to-date sees Seven with 27.1% and Nine on 27.0%.

None of Nine’s shows after 7:30pm were in the Top 20!?

–

A great result for 9Life, over 3% share, ranking in Top 20 multi-channel programs and topping two key demos (clearly 40s/early 50s age skew as didn’t make 16-39s - which of note makes Simpsons on 7flix consistently ranking in all 3 key demos impressive).

Yet another bad night for the once dominant 9Go!

7Two was well down, while 10 Bold was massive (maybe 7Two lost some share to Bold and Life?)

“Green Lantern” on 7mate probably benefited from being the only commercial movie on multi-channels in key prime time last night, higher than I’d have thought, as it’s a terrible movie, was panned by critics and did poor at the box office. Oddly looks to have done well with 40s/early 50s key age bracket.

The World’s Most Scenic Railways did very well for SBS.
The Latest made a rare entry in the top 20, helped by early start in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth where it aired just before 10pm, straight after The Front Bar.

Only because of split programming - Nine’s shows made the top 20 in all individual markets. Though poor result for NRL to not make top 20 with much anticipated Sydney/Melbourne match.

Beat some commercial rivals!

The Bachelor may be winning in demos but the numbers are definitely down this year. They risk it dropping even further with the way they are stretching it out too (by editing what would normally be 1 episode into 2, so there is only 1 rose ceremony per week).

I would guess The Latest’s figure will be adjusted considering The Front Bar always goes way overtime

I was so astonished why the NRL failed to make the Top 20. Two top NRL sides (Parramatta and Melbourne) faced off at Bankwest Stadium. I know that these two sides perform very well in the 2020 NRL season, but why the ratings were quite low, especially on a Thursday night?

I assume this is because they will actually have less episodes overall once the covid episodes hit. I can’t imagine they will do too many zoom episodes.

Also @TV.Cynic did celeb gogglebox really do better than Home and Away in the demos as 10 suggested?

There are only two zoom episodes apparently. I’m guessing once restrictions eased the girls might not be living together in the house the same way, so they are trying to milk the cocktail parties and drama now whilst they have it.

Yes

18-49 Gogglexbox 7th Home and Away 9th ACA was 8th

LOL at “World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys” on SBS (Gee, doesn’t the multicultural broadcaster love train documentaries?) outrating the final episode of Celebrity Gogglebox US on Ten!

The big question now is whether Ten’s decision to run Celebrity Gogglebox US will damage their ratings of normal Aussie Gogglebox next week. Either way, I would expect a slump compared to the ratings of last season’s Gogglebox Australia finale via Ten given that both codes of football were on their pandemic-induced season breaks in Late April.

Documentaries on the Nazis, royalty and trains seem to be SBS’s specialty these days.

I think that has been an SBS specialty for decades.

The love of railway documentaries/programs has only really been a thing for a couple of years now - possibly since the “Slow TV” broadcasts of The Ghan & Indian Pacific were a hit.

It was on 9Gem in Melbourne despite no AFL game on last night. I don’t think the Sydney market like watching the Storm.

It did very well on pay TV though - nearly 300,000 national viewers.
