10 gained a bit of traction out of their extensive promotion of Celebrity Gogglebox US gaining more than one share point in Thursday’s overnights. Nine was also up but mainly due to its multichannels while Seven dropped 2 points but still had a comfortable win.

Markets wins went according to football codes with Nine’s Sydney share was the highest of any market.

Week to date sits at Nine 27.3% and Seven 27.1%.

Gogglebox was able to gain almost 70,000 viewers. The NRL Golden Point has been taken into account in the numbers with the extended part of the game ranking 38th. Nine News Melbourne was over 400k for the second night this week.

Just 45k (on 7mate) for the AFL in Perth, outranked by multiple AFL results in non-traditional markets Sydney and Brisbane (including daytime) in recent weeks. Must be some sort of prime time low?

It was meant to be West Coast vs Richmond, had that gone ahead, Perth would’ve been 100k higher!

Brisbane rollercoaster continues…
7News beats 9News.
7 wins 5pm, then 9 wins 5.30, then 7 back to winning 6-7.
Also H&A narrowly beats ACA.

Maybe the Aussie show featured in the promos was a drawcard but viewers would have been disappointed by how little of MAFS was featured.

Brisbane numbers seem a bit low of late?

Paul Taylor was anchoring on 9, if you weren’t aware.

Low audience in Melbourne for the Storm-Roosters thriller (it was shown live on 9Gem).

Heaps online saying “cancel the AFL, surely can’t go ahead now, a farce” etc

Yet around 350k of that market (of which the comments were predominantly from) watched all of last night’s game, not even two of the biggest clubs or blockbuster match-up. This was also up some 30k on the corresponding game the week before.

Which must be good news for broadcasters and sponsors in this latest coronavirus panic.

No, I’m out of town…
Is he the terrible one from regional tv? If so, why weren’t 7’s ratings even higher!

High Viewing numbers do not mean continuing is the right thing to do.

Agreed. But I think what it does show is that many still rely on it as an ‘escape’ and ‘feel good’, sport after all is sport. Same for NRL for Sydney-siders and Brisbanians (is that a term?)

Suggesting the calls from some (including health experts) are not being reciprocated by much of the general public.

Interesting and unbelievable times.

NB/ No AFL or NRL being played now = collapse of both codes as we know it, possibly forever. Everyone from the Prime Minister down knows that. And they know there’ll be revolt at some stage from sports mad Australia. This paragraph wasn’t worded well, but you get what I’m getting at.

I find him to be better than Andrew Lofthouse, personally.

Most die hard Storm fans in Melbourne gave up on Nine years ago and watch games on Foxtel/Kayo…

From Nine

9News was the No.1 program of the night across the East Coast and in Sydney and Melbourne.

9News 6:30 was the No.2 program of the night in Sydney.

Thursday Night NRL Live was a timeslot winner in Sydney and Brisbane.

Hot Seat won the gameshow battle in Sydney and Brisbane.

From 10
The Project 7pm:

  • #1 across its timeslot in under 50s and all key age groups.

Celebrity Gogglebox USA:

  • Up 25% week-on-week.
  • #2 entertainment show in under 50s, #1 in 18 to 49s, #2 in 25 to 54s and #3 in 16 to 39s.

10 Bold:

  • #1 multi-channel and #1 multi-channel in its target market of people over 40.

And same pattern again on Friday night.
