#21

For me I find I know all the comedians too much, so theres too many well known faces in the sketch shows. If you look at Catherine Tate/Little Britain etc, The main actors (not Tate/Lucas/Walliams) are virtually unknown, with maybe well known “Actors” appearing in 1 scene. I feel theres too many “Comedy Actors” holding back some of the sketches and comedies. It’s hard to get my point across without giving too much to cause a debate and move away from ratings.
I reckon thats where How to stay married works with quite a few regular actors, but still a few too many Comedy cameos per episode.

#22

I second this it would be better to have unknowns. I agree though the writing in a lot of these sketch shows are ordinary though. The one during pilot show was an example.

#23

It is very challenging to get sketch comedy right and appeal to the masses on commercial television. Seven, Nine and Ten have had much more success with drama, variety, documentary, news and sport than they ever have with comedy, which is important to remember when launching something new or critiquing quality.

#24

Wasn’t always the way though.

#25

When has a network had comedy content running more nights in more slots and attracting more viewers than news or drama?

#26

Calm down. I didn’t say they had “more” success with comedy than any other genre.

I am just saying that in the past they did have success with comedy too.

#27

the writing is atrocious. Just looking at previous Full Frontal eps on YouTube, the first scene of the start of season 2 was funny… Unlike most new comedy’s.

#28

Maybe revive Comedy Inc ?

#29

Which was never funny. No thanks.

#30

You are all forgetting one of best comedy series ever on Australian TV, 10’s Comedy Company. Gave us great characters Con the Fruiterer, Kylie Mole, Uncle Arthur and Colin Carpenter. Anyone too young to remember check out YouTube. D generation was pretty good in it’s day too, not to forget the classic Full Frontal. Sorry to say there is no talent or originality to make a show anything like these classics today.

#31

No they weren’t forgotten but was avoiding taking this thread off topic. How dare you forget Fast Forward.

#32

Sorry @JBar, how could I forget Fast Forward! Sorry for going off topic. :disappointed:

#33

Time for the Bachelorette to have a gap year. This season was woeful.

#34

I don’t agree. I think this season was the best season outside Sophie’s season.

#35

I was travelling from Melbourne to Bunbury via Perth today so I was not able to comment until now.
I think 10 will be happy with the ratings for The Bachelorette finale and this season overall, even though it was lower than past seasons.
The drop in Orange is the New Brown’s ratings cost Seven the night.
