#2

Even though it’s down considerably on the 2017, the Bachelorette smashed everything. How to Stay Married looks to have held it’s premiere audience but could be adjusted down if the Bachelorette ran over. If it can hold the audience then that is a rare achievement.

#3

Not a bad finish for The Bachelorette but failed to crack a million.

How To Stay Married might have a chance to do well but Orange is the New Brown crashed in its second week. Greater competition but the second episode wasn’t very good either.

#4

Orange is the New Brown is a disaster and so are the triple episodes of Home and Away. Why can’t Seven get it through their heads that viewers do not want it.

#5

I wonder how bad it has to get before Seven are ready to make a move on Home & Away.

#6

The difficulty seems to be that the triple episodes are primarily responsible for giving Seven respectable/winning shares on most Thursday’s. However I’d argue this is damaging the show’s ability to hook loyal viewers and this is then contributing to the ratings challenges the Monday-Wednesday episodes are facing.

#7

I think Seven has to show H&A in Australia before other countries (eg UK) - maybe it’s due to some contractual obligations.?? With due respect to the show’s iconic status, it’s a pain in Seven’s schedule.

#8

No need for question marks. That’s exactly it and why Seven persist with it.

Not enough pain yet but probably will continue to be now.

#9

I’m sure the number is a 90 minute average and suspect it would have been higher at 7pm. If they’re seeing data which we’re not privy too, that shows the audience dwindling as the 90 minutes lingers on, then why would they keep it at 90 minutes?

#10

Hmmm…lawyers can be so ‘rigid’

#11

I’m not sure why seven don’t just air it on Fridays now that AFL has finished. Air triple episodes there. Put better homes at 8:30

#12

It would be double episodes, but agree with footy over they should be airing it five days a week again.

#13

That concluded The Bachelorette’s lowest rated season so far in overnight numbers. But, despite, that I think Ten would be satisfied as the consolidated and 10Play numbers are up and social media and demos remain well ahead of competition. The final night numbers are fairly close to the 2017 season final. Another positive is that this season has finished 3 weeks later than any previous season so that there are only 2 ratings weeks to go.

Home and Away’s numbers are the lowest rating I can find in recent years and compare to +600k for Thursday episodes at this time last year. Unfortunately it seems that Orange Is The New Brown crammed all their good material into the early episodes as it gets progressively worse with each.

#14

Why can’t it just air Monday - Friday at 7pm on Seven all year round? Better Homes & Gardens on 7Two at 7:30pm would still rate in Melbourne and Home & Away could just run on 7Two that night in Adelaide.

#15

Orange is the New Brown must be moved to 10.30

#16

Should have just been launched on another night. Seven have it little chance.

#17

How to stay married is doing decent numbers, especially for the late start. Will be interesting to see how it goes without such a strong lead in, i enjoy the show quite a bit. Ten owned demo numbers last night!

Orange is the new brown was lackluster from day 1 and was really hyped up (at least in my social circle). I do wonder if a revived Full Frontal would do well in this day and age. That cast was spectacular and a product of its time.

Bachelorette surprised me, i didn’t think it would crack 900k but i guess Australia loves seeing hearts break on T.V (You could see Todd was very devastated!)

Also surprising is the current onslaught of factuals that focus on emergency calls - viewers are enjoying them with ‘decent’ numbers although each network has their own offering.

#18

Not sure they could afford Eric Bana. If they got the old crew of Shaun Micallef, John Butcher, Eric Walker, Julia Morris, Kitty Flanagan all on board it could do well.

#19

I don’t see why a bunch of older comedians will do better than a bunch of younger comedians. The new comedians and actors are doing a great job with what they are given but the writing is what is letting down new sketch shows.

Open Slather on Foxtel in 2015 had Glenn Robbins, Magda Szubanski, Michael Veitch, Gina Riley, Shane Jacobson and Stephen Curry but it still failed. It’s the writing that needs to be good.

#20

Yes and no, If you look back at all the +28 consolidated they usually breakdown the 3 Home and Away episodes.
The last 2 (from 4 & 5 weeks ago) didn’t have too much drop off but about 6+ weeks ago it would drop from about 600k to 440k. So in a month we’ll find out how low that 3rd episode actually went.
