The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

In one of the closest results of the survey Nine scored a narrow win in Thursday’s primetime ratings. With 25.8%, the network was 0.3% ahead of Seven with 10 on 24.6%.

Nine won in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, 10 won Melbourne and Seven was on top in Perth. 10 again had an easy win in the key demographic groups.

Katy Perry’s appearance on MasterChef saw 10’s reality top the entertainment shows despite dropping slightly from the previous Thursday to 942,000. The later MasterClass was also a timeslot winner with 537,000 but this was down on the previous MasterClass in April that had 795,000.

Seven’s Home and Away dropped from the previous week while the network’s movie made the top 20. Nine’s RBT was steady but the movie Bourne Ultimatum could only manage 25th place in the rankings. Meanwhile, ABC’s post 8pm line-up all missed the top 20.

I expected a lot more from Masterchef last night.

I think 10 will be wondering “what happened”? This was one of the most anticipated episodes of MasterChef this year, instead the audience slipped from last week, while the MasterClass which followed, posted its lowest audience since July 19, 2018 which had 550,000. That drop potentially cost 10 the night.

9GO!'s broadcast of Survivor: Winners at War finale (both live and replay) missed the multichannel top 20.

Nine still leading for the week. More rations infO:

Didn’t Masterchef run until after 10pm? That could explain the figures.

The previous MasterClass on April 23 finished at 9.50pm but also had Gogglebox as the lead-out.

Masterchef was too long for the main episode. 90mins for 1 dish and tasting is just far too long. It goes on and on.

It just seems the show doesn’t draw bigger numbers for special guests. When they had the royals on as well the numbers weren’t up by much.

As soon as Katy came it felt like we had a minute by minute shooting.

There’s a separate listing for that?

Shocking

If Seven wants to contend in east markets, change needs to happen. Keep it as it is in south and west though.

I think audiences are losing their taste for quality programming. I honestly don’t understand.

Or perhaps gaining it and watching something else? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Are shopping centres open late again on Thursday nights now?

All the shops haven’t reopened yet so I’d say not really.

The supermarkets are staying open later, so partly yes.

Not necessarily
Considering audiences have the weirdest cravings for a horrid show like MAFS. Scripted, horrible drama. :-1: What’s the point? On the other hand, audiences remaining loyal to a good show like Lego Masters :+1:

Or is it all disposable reality rubbish?

I’m sure Craig McPherson, Jason Morrison and their advisories would argue differently but despite recently scoring what would have to be some of their best ratings in a decade, I’d still say that major improvements need to be made with Seven News in Sydney, as well as the Melbourne & South East Queensland editions.

And before people complain that I’m some sort of Nine fanboy, let it be said that I think there are elements of Nine News that need improving as well. But that discussion is to be had in another topic.

Indeed. Very rarely (especially these days) is there a ratings topping show on Australian TV that I find highly engaging!

Yeah, I’ll go with that. Relatively cheap TV compared to the dramas and comedies of previous decades!

it is true though, you do have to admit. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

They are getting there (Sydney is making noticeable improvements) but 7News really needs to cut out some content deemed unnecessary. Although not happy with Melbourne. They’ve really gone down and are continuing to do so.
