#2

NRL returns boosting Nine but Seven still wins Thursday. Seven’s network share is higher than the previous Thursday and Ten’s is similar as Gogglebox is unaffected recording the same audience as the previous Thursday. Golden Point ranks 16th in Sydney and 8th in Brisbane.

#3

Ms Fisher had a small rise from last week, but it’s hard to see it return without major changes.
Some figures from the NRL opening night last year (March 8):
My Kitchen Rules 954,000
Gogglebox 602,000
Home and Away 588,000
I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 548,000 (elimination: 562,000)
Thursday Night NRL (Dragons v Broncos) 452,000

#4

Without MAFS, Seven and Nine are pretty close. It will be interesting to see how the ratings pan out after the end of MAFS. I think there’s still a glimpse of hope for Seven to retain its crown.

#5

The encore screening of Hughesy received more viewers than the original Sunday night airing!

#6

It is a valuable show when it comes to its encore screenings.

Gogglebox has been 10’s only real shinning light since I’m a Celebrity finished.

#7

Gogglebox is the top show outside news but nothing impressive.

Ms Fisher was always going to struggle as telemovies. Needed to be a one hour series.

#8

2 weeks in a row.
If they ran the premier here while bach in paradise airs Thursday could be a winner for 10.

#10

Huge result for Foxtel coverage.

#11

It needed to be spread out over 10 weeks and in a 7.30 slot rather than following triple Home and Away.

#12

Substantial increase from last year’s opener (Dragons v Broncos) which had the national audience of 261,000.

#13

I’m not an expert on the NRL figures on Foxtel - or anything on Foxtel - what sort of figures do most games get on Foxtel? Would that be one of the biggest results?

#14

I think it is pretty high for a simulcast…more like AFL prime time numbers

#15

I would say it is the highest Thursday night audience for NRL and is up about 100k on the usual audience. Similar and higher numbers are seen for the exclusive Saturday night games, though not many get this high.

#16

I wonder if this has something to do with Foxtel getting the cricket over the summer and if figures will generally be larger for all sports that are on Foxtel.

#17

Whatever was on in the AFL states must have done pretty badly for Nine to win its primary channel by only 2.3% when the NRL did pretty well in Sydney and Brisbane.

#18

I agree with the comment that Miss Fisher should be one hour episodes.
I’ve started to watch every episode so far, but never got to the end of any one of them before my interest waned.

#19

Gogglebox holds up well and even grows on last week’s numbers in Melbourne/Adelaide/Perth, but takes a 33k hit (one suspects, due to the return of NRL which seemed to get quite healthy numbers considering it was an all-interstate game) in Sydney. Will be quite interesting to see if/how the ratings of Gogglebox are affected in the Southern states next week against the return of AFL, that’s for sure!

Earlier in the evening, the “new set factor” has well and truly worn off for 10 News First in the Sydney market. Less than 100k, both the 5pm and 5.30pm portions of Hot Seat getting a larger number of viewers…I’ll be incredibly interested to see how the Network Ten fanboys spin this one!

#20

This SMH article has what appears to be the national audience figure for the NRL on Nine last night. Regional areas plus the other three capitals almost had the same audience as Sydney and Brisbane combined.

#21

Seven News Melbourne had a good win across the hour.
