Seven continued its winning streak on Thursdays extending it to 14 straight wins. Network shares were very similar to the previous results.

Nine won the NRL states while Seven won AFL territory. 10 did well to rank second in Sydney and Adelaide and have the number two channel in Melbourne. In Perth 7Mate came close to outrating Seven’s main channel. 10 was the number one network in the key demo groups.

10 had the top entertainment shows with Gogglebox even with the previous week and The Bachelor rating slightly higher.

Lower than usual AFL audience in Perth despite the Eagles in action.

The Melbourne audiences for Seven News and Nine News were up from Wednesday.

When Seven’s main channel doesn’t even come close to rating 20% and 7mate is only in the 4% (compared to say Fridays and Saturdays when often it’s north of 20% and if West Coast or Fremantle play 6% respectively), you know they’ve had a poor night in non-AFL markets.

Which Cynic alluded to above with the Sydney and Adelaide rankings.

As for Thursday AFL, while Seven may be on a roll (14 weeks in a row is impressive), the raw AFL numbers aren’t really. Fatigue? I think AFL viewers preferred the old ‘handful’ of Thursday games per year, maybe something that’s fatigued NRL audiences in recent years too? Especially when it’s still a weeknight and reality offerings on.

Week-to-date

Seven 26.1%
Nine 28.4%

10 is currently ahead of Seven in the demos (though that obviously won’t last, but if you consider 10’s share on Sunday, it shows that Seven is still not appealing to the key 25-54 audience.

Sydney viewers vastly prefer Georgie Gardner to Mark Ferguson - there’s a message in there for Seven considering that this is far from the first time this has happened!

The 6pm ratings battle is much closer in Melbourne, but far more concerning for Nine (especially with the high 6pm hour ratings and last night’s NRL match being between two local teams) should be the Sydney ratings of A Current Affair with Juanita Phillips receiving 35k more viewers than Tracy Grimshaw did last night.

Ten will be reasonably satisfied with the ratings for Gogglebox and The Bachelor, but that’s about it really.

Are you trying to get him sacked again?

ACA & ABC often swap, it fluctuates and people associate ACA with Tracey anyway, you’d do more harm than good. ACA depends on the the story, the feel good ones are boring and not something you make time to sit down and watch…

Put Georgie on 7 with Mark as a double (just to keep both) and put Mel Doyle on 9NEWS weekends.

Interesting Hot Seat repeats still rate!

I doubt many people pay attention to notice if it’s a repeat or not.
