Good win for Nine with The Ashes the standout performer, giving the network its best Thursday share of the year. 10 had a good result in the key demos. SBS’s The Hunting debut misses the top 20.

In Sydney, NRL ranked 6th, Bachelor 7th and The Ashes 13th.

Melbourne Ashes 1st, Bachelor 5th. Front Bar 11th

Brisbane Bachelor 7th, Ashes 11th, NRL 14th.

Adelaide: Ashes 3rd, Bachelor 5th, Front Bar 10th

Perth: Ashes 5th, Bachelor 8th, Front Bar 16th.

The Bachelor was number one in the key demos in all markets except Melbourne were it was second to The Ashes.

The Bachelor was hit hard.

The cricket audiences across Nine and 9Gem were higher than the first test in the 2015 Ashes series (July 8) which aired solely on Gem due to State of Origin game three on the same night.
THE MID-YEAR ASHES: FIRST TEST-ENG V AUS SESSION 1 -D1 678,000
Gem achieved 12.1% share that night, nearly double the channel’s share last night.

The Bachelor was lower than last year’s second episode (822,000).

Expected bigger for Ashes, though there was a bit on and real test will be when cricket it on main channel everywhere.

The fact some multi-channels were still pretty good (an umpeenth Transporter re-run making Top 20 for example), as well as Bach, Front Bar and some others still getting audiences, suggests many wanted an alternative to live sport including Ashes. Most likely female audiences.

I think the reason why Ashes was number 1 in Melbourne was where the Cricket pre-match analysis was produced in GTV9

No. Are you serious

I would have thought so.

And Todd Woodbridge was born in Sydney and at the height of his tennis career lived in Florida for many years.

You don’t think 750k is good considering Australia’s colapse?

750k is A decent number, given that it’s due to time difference.

As was most shows/networks past 7:30 based on last week. Even though Bachelor is down on Survivor, id say it will easily make back that difference with online.
Once Gogglebox is back 10 should be clearing 15% share.

I couldn’t tell it was being produced in Melbourne. I would’ve thought Sydney but I could be wrong.

Maybe 1% of the audience would have been aware of this fact.

Of course, at the time of the 2015 Ashes series there were five less multichannels than there are now and 9Now streaming was still a number of months away.

Even with Gogglebox returning the week after next, I’m still not expecting Ten to be #1 on Thursday nights again until after The Ashes and the regular NRL season is over though.

0.01% more like it, probably most of whom are regulars on this forum or other sites like TV Tonight.

Time adjusted ratings for cricket:

SESSION ONE (8:00pm – 10:02pm AEST) 5 City: 695,000

SESSION TWO (10:42pm – 12:40am AEST) 5 City: 392,000

The really interesting thing is that the test is up on first test from last year, that being seven’s coverage.
