It is so pointless and overdone though because they always come back a few episodes later.
Glad it rated well - the Aussie version did deserve to do better than it was. I think what actually hurt it was launching ahead of other key English language versions - by the time the hype was there 10 had already axed it.
Ultimately it’s about revenue, not ratings. With personalised ads BVOD rates are higher than traditional linear TV so even if you lose 50k or so live on the night 10 will likely be making more from those 50k watching the broadcast on whatever 10Play is called this week than if they were watching on linear TV. The early releases always help create buzz (a bit like the live feed did for Big Brother) - way more effective than any marketing strategy, and wouldn’t be surprised if the talk from those watching early actually brings in as many viewers as lost to watching online early.
The title says it all.
The Age deputy TV editor Meg Watson gave the show four out of five stars.
That they’re desperate for people to watch it?
In fairness - the Aussie version hadn’t done this twist … so it’s a shock for new viewers. And it was different enough from other versions of the twist for fans of the show.
Are they doing an after the banishment episodes where they interview murdered/banished?
I saw a clip on Instagram with Kween Kong where they revealed her reaction to who The Traitors are. I would say some short videos like this are more likely what we are going to get.
Some room for improvement on the show.
- They have a cheap table cloth on the breakfast table. Not good.
- Gretel talks about the challenge at breakfast, rather than alludes to it. She’s doing an ok job otherwise - she’s very much taking inspiration from Alan Cumming.
- They have cheaped out on the cars to the challenge.
Watermark shown during The Dog House Australia repeat tonight, indicates a shock twist on next Tuesday’s episode.
Another murder places the players on high alert. As suspicions run wild, alliances begin to fracture and accusations fly. The mission reveals new tensions, and a bomb is dropped at the Roundtable.
Saw an ad for next week which was the normal 7.30 Tuesday type ad but it also had “streams from Midday” which I’ve never seen before. Think this is a good thing for those who want to watch prior and actually know what time it drops.
The Australian version shares the same crew and resources as the local NZ version, so whatever cars are used in the NZ version are also used by the Aussie contestants.
What an odd thing to call out. I couldn’t for the life of me tell you what the table cloth looked like without googling. The only thing I noticed was how tightly they were all sitting together but obviously that will be sorted after a couple of people are gone.
Another extremely odd observation. Who cares what cars they are transported in?
I’m just confused how either of these have any real impact on your enjoyment of the show? These comments are clearly coming from someone that watches international versions and expects everything to be the same.
Not an odd thing to say. Many traitors fans watch all the international series, and 10 would be relying on that following to find and watch the local version.
The observation is that the aussie version looks cheap.
Which it obviously is.
Each morning’s breakfast is a key part of the show. It gets alot of airtime. And the tablecloth isn’t even ironed.

You just validated my comment.
We are in a different location. A different mansion. A different vibe. Different cars and styling are used. Woopdidoo. I can assure you 99% of viewers would not care about what you’ve just brought up.
I didn’t validate your comment. I said that 10 would be relying on viewers of the international show to watch their show.
And therefore your estimate of 99% of people not caring would be incorrect. It’s glaringly obvious.
Fans of the International series are going to inevitability make comparisons.
The house itself is fine.
The breakfast setting needs alot of work, and takes up a quarter of each episode. It’s an important setting to get right. They’ve literally used trestle tables and chucked a grey table cloth over the top.
The cars also get alot of airtime to and from the challenges. The contestants are even having to drive themselves.
Not an odd thing to say. Many traitors fans watch all the international series, and 10 would be relying on that following to find and watch the local version
I watch many versions and it’s not something I even batted an eyelid at.
the only thing I probably notice is the challenges and weather isn’t quite up to what I like from the international versions.
It’ll also mean, people watching early can be included in the ratings as it’s all within the ratings window

Hello - fan of the series here. Beyond a mildly amusing observation (comparing the 5-Star Buffet of the US/UK versions to the average BnB breakfast table of the Aus/Kiwi versions) - I really don’t care / I’m here for the thrill of the game.
Absolutely. The game is the game.
But the reality is, some people fly budget, others prefer full service. This has been made on a budget, and it shows.
