I think the key factor that’s made the UK series great is a combination of high profile names, but a cast of intellectual deep thinkers who genuinely love the strategy of it all
Yes. I think the high profile celebrities boost this format. The Aussie reality stars won’t cut it.
I think there’s some intellectual big name Aussie celebs who would have done it who they should have approached
This is the first UK season that I’ve watched and personally I think its been a terrible season so far. It’s like all the younger players that are actually being strategic have gone early and most that are left are completely clueless how to play this game. I think episode 3 around 10 or 11 people got votes and around 7 people in episode 4. Stephen Fry saying at the round table that they shouldn’t discuss and just vote took the cake. The only ones working well together are the Traitors. It is giving me Aus season 2 vibes.
Also sad that the first 2 to go were the celebs that I really wanted to see on this, then the ones I start liking keep going.
I am looking at it as a civilian version with contestants with experience in front of the camera. With such a short shoot it make sense.
I think they should have tried to get Waleed, Annabel Crabb and Julia Morris. Feel like they could have got at least two of those
I think ypu don’t need to keep listing your suggestions. The contestants have been chosen.
I’ve only watched the first 2 episodes but I so far it seems like a high quality production with a strong cast and host.
I really like all the music and songs that they have in the background through it as well.
Really hope 10 match the quality and we don’t get a low budget Temu Traitors from 10.
Watched the first two eps of Celebrity Traitors - it’s fabulous fun. I have never seen a version of the Traitors before so it took me a while to “get it”. I think that’s the blocker for a lot of new viewers.
Also looking forward to seeing Gretel back on TV. She’ll be great.
The Age Green Guide’s review of Celebrity Traitors UK
UK version won its timeslot last night - season high - according to 10.
Note - shows on other channels finished at 9.30 while Traitors went to 9:50.
The UK episodes have a full hour runtime with no ads on the BBC, so 10 have to add an extra 20 minutes of ads.
I’m pretty sure they cut some fat - I saw an episode that jumped straight into the action without the recap.
The last three episodes on 10 jumped straight into the action without the recap and the title screen.
From 10 re last week:
- Celebrity Traitors UK: Reaching 2.44 million viewers. 523,000 total average viewers. BVOD is adding 71% to its broadcast average audience.
This validates that there is plenty of interest in The Traitors format. BVOD viewing is a couple weeks ahead on 10(play) too and multiple people that I know are up to date with it via BVOD.
it will all come crashing down when Ten launches the Australian version with its list of former MAFS contestants.
There is only 1 contestant from MAFS on the Australian cast but ok… ![]()
Most Australian’s wouldn’t know most of this UK cast. I know a lot are big names in the UK but I really only knew a few of them. A friend of mine watching didn’t really know any of them but he likes The Traitors so is watching. We don’t need to turn this into which versions have better casts though. Most versions around the world are just everyday people and do well.
ok, perhaps wasn’t that meant to be taken quite so literally. Reality show contestants, then. The point still stands.
There were a few of the UK contestants I didn’t know but names like Tom Daley, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammad and Charlotte Church are not exactly unknown to us, and I would say are a large part of what has made the UK version popular with viewers engaging with it here.
Im pretty sure that’s higher than the viewership during the Aussie seasons in 2022 & 2023
