The Project (2020-Feb 2025)

Who is hosting the reboot of Talkin’ 'bout your Gen?

watch something else? Seems pretty straightforward.

Can we stick to The Project please

I think The Project either needs to be revamped or moved to a later time and replace the early evening slot with a program that is more of a current affairs style. Chat programs are more suited to either during the day or in the mid to late evening slot (think Tonight Live or Graham Kennedy’s Coast To Coast)

yes we know. You’ve said variations of this a number of times.

They tried than with the news revolution through 6.30 with George Negus, and it failed - 10 aren’t going to risk it again.

Not quite sure that’s a fair statement. George Negus’ show was comically wrong for commercial TV.

The list of failed shows on Ten between 6pm and 7.30pm is very long. We were reminded of Level 23, a lifestyle show from 1992 in another thread. There have also been a lot of failed game shows Battle of the Sexes, Jeopardy, Celebrity Name Game, Pointless, Studs and soapies like Arcade, Echo Point and Out of the Blue.

The Project could even be used to unearth new talent or promote some of their Ten News reporters

Whatboutism. The Renovators, Yasmin’s Getting Married, The Hot House. Should they not do reality either?

Not sure your point. George Negus was a decent show on the wrong channel, it was clear from the start, if 10 developed a show more similar to ACA, I am sure it would do better.

My point is, suggesting that a show should be axed and a replacement found is not as easy as suggested. It’s high risk.

Many were calling for Studio 10 to be axed. What we’ve got now? A wasteland of repeats.

High risk brings high reward.

We’ve seen this proven as recently as last year with Hot Seat being dumped for Tipping Point Australia.

Big Brother being axed and replaced by MasterChef was also a big reward.

The Project needs to go. It’s had its time. Keeping it just because its replacement might not do better isn’t a good enough reason to not try.

Or epic failure.

I see nothing which has been suggested which sounds like it would be better.

Has Max Rushden returned for 2025 at all - haven’t seen a mention of him yet this year

He seems to be the fill-in host when Hamish or Waleed are away.

Shame, always liked him on the weekend editions with him and Georgie hosting. Good dynamics.

Well, they’ll probably get him back when someone is off again.

Tonight’s dynamic was good. It’s great to have Sam and Hamish on the same night again. Sarah is good with everyone and Rachel seems to have settled down and has not been as loud lately.

and Sam had a little segment of doing stand up to the audience for news jokes of the week.

So The Project is doing product sponsored segments now?

They had a segment on music news with American Express and ARIA all over it.
