The Block

Anytime Onlyfans is mentioned (even if its just media reports) its such a MAFS storyline.

Kylie is like if an eclipse was a person.

After all the banging on about mental health earlier in the series and the appearance of caring throughout it all - how can they justify all the stuff this week to amp up the drama? Not taking sides because I think that both of them have done things and many of them just aren’t nice people however to have the producers bring on all this drama, then bring her back to the show to get more out of it and then to have Scott effectively throw Mimi under the bus with her partner etc… Yes, I know there’s drama and yes I know that there would be strain on any relationship but to actively be pushing for more drama and serious ramifications with relationship breakdowns and kids involved I’m really struggling to see any good in it all other than to satisfy those with the popcorn who love to watch the drama but fail to recognise that this is reality and not just acting.

Anyway, just my 2c.

I agree. It’s a top rating show and doesn’t need this contrived drama to push up the ratings. It was obvious from the previews that Kylie was going to return so why did they need to make it more dramatic? I know the contestants would’ve signed agreements/wavers before joining the show but surely when someone’s marriage is at stake they should’ve let them try to sort things out in private rather than play out all the drama on national TV.

I can imagine them telling Kylie, don’t walk up the street until we’ve got the drone up.

The sneaky shaky cam on Brad, the questions from that moment then repeated by the producer in the interviews and repeated again by Scotty was just too much.

Also they really like making Scotty the gossiper/shit stirrer.

I also hate how the contestants are gossiping with the McCafe staff. I’m sure it’s all part of giving paid exposure to McCafe but it’s really not a good look.

I wondered this too. There has to be more to it than what they are showing us.

Remember the time when this show was about building houses? I understand contestants leaving, but that was usually done “behind the scenes”. Now days, it’s all about gossip, “hidden skaky cam” shots and drone shots, and all talking with major sponsors in shot.

Glad I’m not the only one then. I think my main concern is they’re starting to cross into some dangerous territory. We saw what happened with the Jeremy Kyle show in the UK and it’s not that big a stretch now that with all of this mental torture on people and the portrayals that someone could do something serious afterwards which would of course lead to all sorts of ongoing ramifications.

I know the argument that it’s reality TV and it’s meant to be like this could be used but there’s different styles of reality TV. MAFS and the like people know what they’re getting into, AGT and all those ones you wouldn’t have this sort of stuff and the ongoing ramifications for the majority of people wouldn’t be ongoing but the way The Block and even MKR etc… are going with their need for villains is a risky move if they misjudge things. Even though there’s not many people I like in the show this year I certainly wouldn’t wish anything bad on them especially as I understand the pain of mental health issues.

Ok this is happening Sunday night.

What is with the women on this show this year?

Kylie is never happy, is not open to anyone or anyone opinions, spits the dummy over the smallest things, says she hates the colour green but its her whole hair colour.

Mimi just thinks about herself, never helps Kristian, has not empathy or sympathy for him. Scott Cam even showed up and made a point and praised Kristian on his good points which Mimi couldn’t even do and then Mimi started crying and Scott is like whats wrong Mimi? and she goes oh its just hard and Scott goes “yeah I know” and left it at that :joy:

Then you had the same behaviour with Paige and Jesse, no empathy, made fun of him crying and not being a man. and speaking of crying, does Maddy cry every episode?

The only normal one is Courtney but that’s probably because Grant is overbearing and starts all the fights.

and not like the men are innocent as I said Grant, and Ricky should practice what he preaches.

Mimi does very little on the The Block, in fact apart from the sisters the other women do very little. Mimi was supposed to manage the budget but has admitted that she didn’t even do that. Each time we see her actually working on the house (which is very rare) it seems more like a token effort rather than actually work. Not to mention her fully manicured nails which have been perfect all season.

Way too often you’ll see one of the women pick up something from the delivery truck such as a single pipe that they can carry with one arm. Like I said, a token effort, just for the camera.

I’m going to be berated for this comment but your post is what’s wrong with this show. The toxic masculinity is encouraged. The fact some of Kristians cheating and selfishness gets forgotten is completely wrong.

Do you mean Kylies husband?

No Kristian. He was caught cheating multiple times throughout the season. He also was completely selfish towards the girls. But we all forget about what the man has done…

Are you surprised? The Block is now just the renovation version of MAFS - more drama to keep the viewers hooked.

I’m not surprised and I’m annoyed at myself every year for coming back to watch again.

Oh cheating on the game not his partner.

This Kylie woman is unhinged. What a piece of work. Fancy carrying on like that on national TV. How ridiculous.

This is probably the worst contestant I’ve ever seen in the block history.
How disrespectful to her team-mates, to brad, to Scotty and the crew.
That’s not on.
Presumably she’ll be on MAFS next year too
