Test Cards and Other Internal Content

I’ve seen variations on this test pattern, including one that says “Woolloongabba MMN” or something similar, or this one below:

looks like the test pattern GTV9 used in the mid-70s before they went 24 hours.

And a segment of an interesting feed I caught regarding the police shootings in Texas with the reporter and cameraman having an argument:

The reporter tells the camera operator that he is out of focus, eventually leading to the camera operator telling the reporter “Don’t talk to me”. Things escalate when the reporter tells the camera operator to “shut up” and ultimately, the camera operator cuts him off in the middle of recording and tells the reporter “You’re done!”. The reporter responds “ARE YOU CRAZY?” “This is going to be huge trouble for you!”.

That makes me wonder how the local stations get state parliament footage. Do they get a full feed of Question Time, or just the highlights?

I think that it’s related to Planet America: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/planet-america/

7.1.1 surround sound. Or 7.1.1 the date.

Hmm, isn’t that surround sound just 7.1 without the last .1? I wouldn’t think a news feed would have that many channels of audio. Date doesn’t seem to fit in either, given it was captured in August 2016.

Why are videos played over feeds instead of sending them as files?

Maybe it’s cause the islands have a weak Internet connection and it’s easier to feed by satellite

I was told because TV networks have their own offices in parliament house they have direct links from the parliament house TV system into their own systems hosted in their offices. I’m guessing it’s sent over the DVN2 or some other private network from their offices which is then made available to regional stations. With the DVN2 you can route video using a web browser.
