Test Card combined with the Starting Soon graphic?
When Nine stations had locally-based presentation, was there ever a clean network feed? I remember TCN news updates and ads creeping in if QTQ didn’t break in time for local ads.
It was just a comment about that “starting soon” over test card thing, not really a post war.
Random NBC skycom slate.
Yes, the normal feed was clean videotape machine or studio feed, switched to black during the commercial breaks so you couldn’t see the tape spooling or studio banter. The switch to black actually occurred 1 second after TCN had entered their break, to allow stations a little slack to prevent a hard chop if there wasn’t a natural fade on the program. The news breaks were made available on the feed, by a quick switch from the clean feed to a dirty feed for the benefit of any Station who didn’t have their own news break at that point. The electronic countdown cue counted from the end of the news break, so Pres coordinators avoiding the update had to guess their own cue, which is probably why you saw them slip through.
Around 2 am, depending on what night it was, a dirty feed was put on line for the benefit of GTV, whose Pres was unattended until 6 am. TCN had to make sure content was ok to air elsewhere, such as not running NRL/Footy show promos etc, and to air generic id’s instead of a harbour bridge back-grounded one’s (back when those existed) I think QTQ manned their Pres through the whole night. Not 100% sure how NWS and STW we’re handling things.
Here’s the video version of this I recorded off a satellite feed:
And the test card that preceded it:
QTQ was manned all night. and while GTV and QTQ used to ‘live switch’ from the pres feed (even on delay) STW used to clip up each program segment using a variant of an EVS.
Each segment was then available in the local server for playback whenever (Friday night footy for instance.)
This enabled STW (an independent operation at that time) to schedule their own break lengths, programming etc.
Do you have any more studio track examples from sporting events or newscasts?
Also, my countdown dump for tonight.

Not really “Internal”, but nice to see the SSTV hobby represented in a way, so I might as well drop another one in here.

Back on subject…
If there are direct urls for these Nine news streams, they would be pretty useful to me to grab more of these.
Right now, some catching up…
