If the NBL were smart they’d air a Sydney v one of the Melbourne teams as the game followed by Perth v Adelaide/brisbne to get the most Coverage across the nation rather than some niche regionals team in illarawra that no one cares about.

It’s also on ESPN. So I think they are talking about the ratings overall since all NBL matches are NBL production and not 10 or ESPN.
Also ESPN has 5 NBA games tmr so those who want basketball might watch NBL tonight and then NBA tmr etc

How much did the NBL rate for Channels 7 and 10 up to 1999 when it was a Winter Competition competing against the AFL and NRL maybe they should do this again?
Best to have the NBL Season run similar to A-League
I believe 10 dropped the NBL after 1997 in part due to the season switch (1998 season was February - July, 98/99 was October - April). This was after the NBL time slot kept getting later and later throughout that run though.
Having said that, summer is a much better position for the league away from the 2 big sports (I believe basketball fans are also more likely to be AFL fans than soccer fans are to be AFL fans). Also, every 2/4 seasons would have month long interruptions for the World Cup and Olympics (could add the Asia Cup in, so 3/4). A lot of players play NBL1 or NZ NBL during the winter as well.

Due to the extreme heat the event was run at 8am aedt and the telecast time remains unchanged so it’s on delay for today.

With the addition of UFC coverage, 10 will have 4 sports in it schedule at least for a short time adding to A League, NBL and the Surf Life Saving Iron Series. Interesting to see if FTA UFC coverage can grow the sport as well as attract young demos and advertisers to 10.

Not sure what that has to do with 10 considering that bout was going to be on the main card (which is on PPV in Australia) and not the prelims which Paramount+ & 10 will show.
