Will 10’s disaster recovery remain outsourced to MediaHub?

Disaster recovery is now with Telstra. Telstra provide the disaster recovery service to NPC.

Presuming 10’s switch to Telstra for DR mode is related to their move to NPC?

That all took place when the head end was turned off at 10 and outsourced to NPC last year. NPC have the agreement with Telstra for DR.

Hopefully their equipment is all up to date and working.

Now, this leaves me with a question…

If pres is now essentially playing out a playlist from a server, is it possible for some corporate sabotage to take place? Let’s say someone in NPC looking after 10’s stuff is paid by 7 to put something illegal, disparaging or naughty (whatever that is, I’ll leave it up to you to think about) on the playlist and it goes out on the air.

Given 10 is responsible for whatever it airs, could it be possible to hijack the playout servers for people’s own evil interests, or is there a procedure, manned or otherwise, to review what’s on the playlist before it hits the pres suite?

Also, given 7 and 9 own NPC, is there the possibility of those two prioritising themselves in the event of the shit hitting the fan? This is sort of why I think you should be looking after your own playout, but given today’s climate, I’d be better off hitting my head against a brick wall than successfully getting my point across.

Let’s put down the tin foil hat :face_with_peeking_eye:

I was only asking a question that I’m sure people around here may have had as well. I’m just the only one bold enough to ask it.

Businesses all over the world are quietly providing goods and services to their competitors or opposition. It’s nothing unusual & no need for such thoughts.

Well sorry not sorry. Heaven forbid I’m thinking of such things and should be punished accordingly. I await the prison guards coming to the dungeon to give me a good few strikes of the cane.

Actually it’s fair to test a theory, NPC kinda reminds me of the “shared” helicopter idea . That mostly went ch7 way, but maybe I need a tinfoil hat as well

I thought Telstra was the disaster that needed another firm for recovery.

We have a promo for a timeshift channel. Really.

Is this 2026 or 2006?

Remind me - how many timeshift channels did we have on FTA in 2006?

They would be referring to the time shift channels on Foxtel.

Lipstick on a pig more like :stuck_out_tongue: Its Ten with a + 1 , nothing new about it in the grand scheme of it. Timeshift is so last decade. Just Ten being ten and doing something for the sake of it.

Already getting more promotion than the news is

It’s clear that there’s still a business case for timeshifted channels. Most Foxtel boxes are PVR’s these days, too.
