The only way they could have kept both is using the half hour format at 6pm for News+, air double Deal Or No Deal, then The Project trialled at 9:30pm, with 10 News+ encored at around 11:30 then The Late Show. The Project encore could have been around 1am
It’s almost like If they stuck with local news at 6pm ten years ago, refined the product, marketed it well and invested in it - it could have grown and built into a solid performer.
instead we’ve seen a revolving door - and I feel the thing they may end up going for late in the year if they axe news + - is back to local at 6 - and we’l Be back to exactly where we were 10 years ago. Only without the benefit of 10 Years of nurturing
look at the ratings for Aca, home and away and 9/7 news. All average offerings. But when you let sit market and refine the product - they perform

10 News+ could have been something like a cross between Newsworld and Jim Waleys Sunday back in the day, maybe a nightly Cover Story. I think too much faith was put into News+ AND that they dont know their 6pm audience.

With those ratings, should be pushing train fair to Gold Coast.
Everyone gets holidays in their job, and it’s not like he’s not been working for the last like 25 years.

10 really should invest in local bulletins rather than News+
Have regional bulletins at 6pm and either 30 minute metro only bulletins or a game show in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney & Melbourne

Or at least a decent regional window at 6. Would be better than the current updates.
They’ve extended the Late News to an hour, but they also cut the Afternoon News, so I guess it’s to balance that.
So they probably couldn’t cut Plus without shifting it into 5pm or use it to bring back Afternoon News.
Probably easier than making another new Aussie program to fill the quota.
