Chris was freelancing at 10 wasn’t she?
10 has provided a statement to TV Tonight, confirming Chris would present her final bulletin at the end of this year.
Now can she build Perth back up, or has the News+ lead out done its damage.
I think the problem in Perth is how popular Tipping Point has become - 10 News used to go up against 9’s Afternoon News at 5pm. (Just a theory).
But just looking at earlier this year (going through Febs numbers), 10 News Perth was pulling 40-50 k quite regularly, coming first a couple of times, 2nd quite a bit, and now its halved down to 25k while the Chase has gotten some growth back there (with Tipping point taking the slightest of dips).
And it has seemed like a slow decline once Deal moved.
Sad to see Chris Bath leave 10. Se’s been a great asset. At least he’s staying until the end of the year (which is sadly just around the corner) rather than being let go at the end of this weekend.
Georgie Tunny as weekend newsreader? Nice get. And to a national audience.
Are 10 really trying to get the younger audience, by getting Tunny to read the Saturday edition, when the "young ones are out”….
Ursula Heger presenting in Sydney tonight
Can’t say I will miss Chris Bath . But this news division is a joke. Hard to take ten seriously as the one to go to news. More cost cuttin in the news division.
It’s probably CBS decision
Why do you say that?
Actually surprised Chris continued with the weekend bulletin after signing on to ABC drive. She has been working 7 days a week.
She hasn’t been doing Friday’s on radio though I don’t think.
Correct - Dom Knight currently does Friday drive.
10 hasn’t learnt anything from previous staff shedding. 10 need to keep older, more experienced staff - think Brian Henderson, Peter Hitchener, Ron Wilson and Peter Ross amongst others from around Australia that were seen as knowledgeable and trusted.
Before people say these people were from past generations, I am aware this - but I am pointing out stability in news departments builds trust with viewers.
Yep, and having older more experienced staff costs more $$$.
Having an inexperienced 22 year old and dumping a shit load of work on them is more cost efficient.
I wouldnt say cost efficient. On paper yes, but not in reality
Why would a US broadcaster have anything to do with another division of their parent company (not even the same management technically)?
An example of this would be the Queensland News Team. Many changes in how they operate - having an experienced voice/anchor (although from another station) would have some explanation towards its recent improvement in ratings and engagement.
I thought Chris Bath was more or less freelance/casual anyway? With Chris’ other commitments, and if Georgie is on the books, not surprised they’re making the transition.
