Maybe the teleprompter was stuffed.

7 and 9 have bureaus literally in that city, 10 doesn’t. They can’t just snap their fingers and get someone there. And given nobody in danger in LA is’t relying on 10 News Australia for their info, using their American resources and packaging locally is fine given the wider circumstances at 10.
What’s the point of having a US correspondent who doesn’t travel to where the news is happening?
This isn’t about Americans relying on Channel 10; it’s about the many Australians, like my family, who have loved ones in Los Angeles and America who want to stay informed about what’s happening. CBS isn’t going to prioritise finding Australians affected by the tragedy to report on.
Katherine lacks the capacity to travel and cover breaking news as a correspondent should. As I’ve mentioned to m former colleagues at 10, if they want to keep her, she would be better suited as a New York correspondent, with another freelancer brought in to travel to major stories as they break.
They don’t have a US correspondent? They have a freelancer they use when she’s available.
Fortunately for you in that case, there’s massive coverage on many, many local and international outlets.
Katherine is finally in LA and will have crosses tonight in the news.
She’s identified and reported as U.S. correspondent but is a freelancer.
I’m now based in the U.S. so have the coverage but family back home aren’t as lucky and the time difference makes it tricky to keep them inform.
She she’s a freelancer.
family in Aus? there is so, so much coverage over here, they’ll have plenty of information available to them, even if 10 hasn’t had live crosses.
