Ten News First Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

The difference is those presenters don’t go posting their opinions and views on social media. Narelda does.

So why are you here?

I meant news outlets and journalism in general. A severe difference to the quality we had 20/30 years ago.

Gotcha.

I don’t disagree but it’s hard to work out what the alternative is. Media models of 20-30 years ago don’t work now. Even the NYT, held up as an example for industry, is finding this balance of staying relevant in a turbulent period hard.

Bringing it back to topic, I would a) take with a grain of salt any reporting by The Aus on any media these days - again a sad comparison to 15-20 years ago when its media section was the bible - particularly considering they have had it out for 10 at a corporate level for many years, and b) consider whether it really matters in a presenter’s case.

Narelda, when she does report, covers stories and issues important to her. She’s not an on the road or a beat reporter and her connection to each story is tenuous at best - a 20-second intro in most cases. Equally, for your view that her opinions being well-know is polarising, others will find it a way to connect with her and, by extension, 10. Management must consider the benefits outweigh the risks.

“Journalist”

It is hard to differentiate between what could be considered with news and fact and opinion for most average people . You only have to look at the hogwash that Sky News After Dark (sounds like porn to me lol) spill out. Common sense in most people don’t believe the hog wash that comes out of the opinion shows. Nonetheless my point being I have had fascinated conversations with people who believe Sky News journalists are the truth tellers and that ABC have journalist that are compromises . I was going to delve further into their thinking but there is a secular of people out there who don’t know what is fact or fiction or even what a journalist does.

I mean that’s a very sweeping statement itself that shows more about your own lack of media literacy.

Agree in theory to an extent but to be honest I think the difference is Narelda isn’t really getting behind stuff that’s detrimental. She’s not calling for a genocide or for public hangings.

1000%. Can’t interview someone saying “We should stop harming people” then say for balance here’s someone who wants to see more harm.

Is Rob Waters a casual sports reporter at ATV nowadays?

Agreed and she’s not honing in one on issue and making a big spectacle of it like the savoury of Sky News journalists.

Narelda is smart she’s not like the rest of so called journalists and do we need to remind about the Victorian journalist who was always undermining the Victorian government with the lockdown laws ets on twitter. Calling for heads to roll etc , she sounded.like a play book for sky News. To me that is bias tight there she was always gunning for Dan Andrews.

David is entitled his view.
