I don’t believe it would work all year round with live sport on the other channels.
Build. More. Control. Rooms.
Brisbane need one, and here’s another reason why.
The bulletin rates well for a 10 bulletin, and it would allow expansion with Live broadcasts.
Yesterday had Rugby League on Nine and Supercars on Seven.
Or build one in Perth they can use for Brisbane, Perth, and late news.
Who controlled Perth’s bulletin prior to the centralisation?
Melbourne. Sydney controlled it when it was read there during centralisation.
Melbourne controls it again now.
I don’t want to get into all the logistics of the control of news rooms again. Just pointing out that with little to no promotion 15,000 more people than usual watched a local bulletin in Brisbane on Sunday. That’s a 40% increase.
So if you worked for 10 and were in a strategy session and passionate about more local bulletins this would give you some good ammunation.
Did 9 and 7 have their usual 5pm bulletins running yesterday in QLD?
Few different cameras angles in Melbourne tonight.
AFAIK Nine did but Seven didn’t.
You would think local weekend bulletins would help the weekday product and consolidate the perception of the brand. The daytime bulletins are nice but really, if you’re rationing resources, investing in your ‘prime’ slot should be the priority right?
In 2024, I’d argue that investing in a good digital strategy (including a local one) is another key to gaining traction.
@killy06 made sure to pay attention to tonight’s update when watching HYBA - turns out I’ve must of misheard as she hasn’t mentioned the local start time on 10play.
In Brisbane the 10 Play time was on the graphic so the same audio can be used in all markets.
Melbourne:
They also aired a promo on 10play with this end yesterday.
Publicity photo shoot day for the Perth team.
Brisbane news last night had the same 49,000 rating as Melbourne that is underperforming recently. Across the week there’s been a 15% lift on last year. Melbourne is down 8% however while Adelaide is up 32%. Sydney and Perth are up 6%.
See what happens when you invest in news 10?
A very late change to the first story in Brisbane thanks to afternoon storms happening at the time - quick cross o Liz Cantor then radar graphics that didn’t play out correctly.
Amazing social media video shown of “gustnado” on Brisbane River.
Looks like a "GUSTNADO" which is an intense vortex that forms on the leading edge of the gust front of a Thunderstorm.

It is Tornado like phenomenon that can cause powerful winds but is usually very short lived.@10NewsFirstQLD @10NewsFirst #tornado https://t.co/r5uJlloJqN
