I mentioned here that the only visible difference seems to be adjusted light strips under the videowall

Minor audio problems in Sydney tonight and cars driving in the Harbour behind Tara in the sports preview (possibly from the previous package).
As others have commented, in Sydney the play out of the reports are much better with HD now more prominent. Looks a lot better.
Good to see the late news returning tonight, one improvement we’d like to see is to have it presented from a set rather than green screen. We live in hope.

Yes I just saw the preview. A shame they can’t update the quality of that bulletin to make it more legitimate.

What is the main reason why it doesn’t come from the main set?
Is it the requirement of a floor manager and lighting technician to be there?

I assume it was prerecorded still, although airing at 10:07 on the main channel?
Correct. They don’t want to pay for the floor crew to stay back.
They record it not long after Perth comes off air and updates are completed.

Would it have been better to just have the Late News come out of Melbourne?

Don’t forget, Melbourne also controls TVQ.
I think it would make more sense to have it based out of Perth. Perth’s set is also better than ATV10’s. As 10 likes things messy. The Control room crew for Perth and the late news are already split between Sydney and Melbourne.

Agree. I think Perth would make a good outcome for the Late News.
But at some point, 10 will need to address Melbourne’s Set. It’s now a 11 years old.

It does look good, I wish they made those strip lights along the back of the set white otherwise it’s quite dark and a bit of a blue overload.
