Will they be aired during the breaks in the bulletins only?

Or perhaps theyâre just taking a market by market approach to play to the strengths/weaknesses of each city, which makes some sense.
Meanwhile, âWeeknightsâ on the Perth advertising is embarrassing. Clearly no one proofed it.
Not sure I agree softly softly is the approach here. Theyâre launching a new show and a new product at 6pm and no one knows about it. 10 News has been at 5 for 25 years. Everyone knows 10 has news at 5. Of course keep promoting it, but for the next 3 or 4 weeks thatâs not really the marketing problem they need to solve.
6pm is.
Theyâve got a brand new local news offering starting Monday, replacing something that failed, and theyâre putting it into probably the most competitive slot of the night against Seven and Nine. They need to actually tell people itâs there and give them a reason to try it.
Putting it in the guides as one 90 minute bulletin from 5 doesnât do that either. It just makes it look like the existing 5pm news goes for longer, which theyâve tried before.
Iâd be heavily marketing âThe all new 10 News Sydney at 6. Monday at 6 on 10â for the next few weeks. And give it a point of difference. Seven and Nine both want an hour of your time. 10 only needs 30 minutes. All the local and national news you need in a fast 30 minute bulletin. Thereâs a marketing proposition there.
I also donât really get the argument that they shouldnât push it too hard because they might change the schedule again. If you donât properly launch it, how do you know whether it works? Give it 3 or 4 weeks of really heavy promotion and make people aware thereâs actually a new show at 6. If it doesnât work, fine.
But quietly extending the 5pm bulletin to 6.30 and hoping people notice something has changed isnât really launching anything.
10 uploaded the wrong 10 News Late bulletin yesterday on YouTube. I was catching up on news from Friday and got 10 minutes in thinking that Iâd heard some stories before⌠but that maybe thereâd been another Telstra outage (not out of the realms of possibilityâŚ).
It seems to be the 7 July bulletin, not 7 August.
Team is going wild on the socials this morning with the new promos. Queensland is the only one who has emphasised 6PM.
Sydney:
Melbourne:
Queensland promo - âSharyn is back at 6â:
Adelaide promo filmed on Sydney set:
Perth - missed the mark with â5pm weeknightsâ:
Really ineffective marketing that does nothing to solve the ratings problem at 6.
Missed opportunity to actually sell and market the problem time-slot as an alternative to whatâs on 7 and 9
I feel 10 doesnât have someone in charge or marketing - the creative team just make promos with no clear marketing objective.
Selling one long 90 minute bulletin is the exact wrong way to do it. Theyâre so unbelievably hopeless.
10 News at 5 and 6. So simple.
I donât mind the Brisbane promo where Sharyn says
âIn depth 10 News at 5 then the high-speed version at 6â
Should have had this line in all the promos and concentrated on that message.
The âthereâs always time for a little funâ line seems a bit odd. Something more along the lines of â10 News @ 6pm - itâs time to turn to 10â, or something similar to what Channel 7 did when Ian Ross took over. I think their line was ââSydney is Making the Switchââ even though no one is exactly making the switch to 10! ![]()
Agree, Queensland got it âmostly rightâ. Shouldâve spun the same messaging for the others.
Perth really shouldâve highlighted that they are local 7 nights a week and used Narelda as part of this promo too.
They should seperate them on the 10 app too.
So people can just watch the 30 minute bulletin later on at night without having to sit through the first 60 minutes or attempt to scroll through to the 6pm start.
The number of people going to the Ten app for the 30 minute bulletin from 6pm will be lucky to get out of single figuresâŚ..
They may have a chance of getting a bit of a bump at 6pm in Queensland, I donât think the same is true in Adelaide, for example, where theyâre better off pushing 5pm and making that product as strong as possible given recent inroads.
10 QLD arguably did a better job at the message than elsewhere with these new promos.
Whatâs the setup like now for control room.
Who gets what live?
10 you really should market as others have said
5pm local news in-depth
6pm the express edition
5pm
10News Sydney
6pm
10News Sydney Express
Fast paced. Bite size and even a rundown gfx on screen like we see on the morning shows in the US. Where you see whatâs coming up in the rundown.
With the new rundown weather is starting later than usual along the east coast it seems. Markets differ though.
Brisbane had no weather then a restart to the bulletin with headlines.
Sydney and Melbourne are running weather past 6pm
